TinTin going back alone

Anybody know of TinTin's story, after he went back to the plane while the other 2 guys went forward? I'd like to hear what he went through, going back over the mountain(s) to the plane............alone!! That had to be difficult. OK, he could follow the footsteps in the snow, unless more snow had fallen. And if he got disoriented, he'd be in a world of (BLEEP). ie:Which way do I go?

The other 2 guys had each other to rely on, but TinTin had to go back to the plane all by him self.

Just wondering.

They parted just below the summit of the mountain.

It took far less time for TinTin to get back to the plane than it had taken the three of them to get up the mountain. In fact he got back in the afternoon of the day when he parted from the other two. If I remember correctly it had taken them three days to climb up.

Thanks for the info. That makes sense. I had just figured TinTin had to climb another mountain to get back to the plane.

reply

It took TinTin only 2-3 hours to get back to the plane- the route was all downhill and he could slide much of the way.

i read somewhere that tintin sledded down using a piece of metal or something... and he was the only one to do it, (not how they showed it in the film where three of em come down midway through the film after a trek)

reply

yes tin tin used a sled to get back to the plane and it only took him a little over an hour to go back what had taken them 3 days to walk

reply

In Piers Paul Read's book "Alive", Tintin tells the other survivors he got back down the mountain in three quarters of an hour.

I always thought that if that was me, I'd get lost because I'd lose my sense of direction.

GO Tin Tin!

He was an interesting character, very quite, yet strong as an ox, highly competent and dependable. When he spoke up, during the time whey were contemplating cannibalism, he gave the best reasoned justicifation. Also, I'll bet Nando sent him back to the plane, because he wasn't sure Canessa would make it.

Vizintin was actaully a jerk in real life, he bullied lot's of the younger boys, and when he was on his trek, they slept better, that's what it says in the book, he also wiped his butt with Francois favourite adidas t shirt, and Canessa bragged about this to Bobby :(
Canessa was also a huge jerk, nicknamed muscles.

I never understood why TinTin was sent back and not Roberto.

Nando seem to need to twist Roberto's arm the entire way...when all he did was whine.
Roberto even said on the mountain to Nando "I'm not as strong as you "

I was like OMG....just send him BACK!!!!

This would NOT be my choice of people to have on my team of life and death....

reply

However, Roberto was very intelligent, creative, good at reading maps, and had good eyesight.
