Most ridiculous line of the movie

"I believe that God is taking care of us"

I challenge anyone to top this line for sheer lulz and absurdity. Bad God! If this is taking care, I'd hate to see it when he ignored his pathetic creations.

Just because you've been a boring troll for a long time, doesn't make you less of a boring troll.

Do you have a most ridiculous line, are are you merely fixated on what I have written? Who is the troll?

No. Fixated on the bull**** you've written. What of it?

Who is the troll?

Probably both of us.

No, my original subject is valid and I entered a qualified line. The utterance that god was taking care of them was tragically ironic considering their dire situation. Whether or not you are a believer, the line was lame. For people who believe in god, some can never see the reality that their god is ignoring or sh***ng on them. For non-believers, well, we don't have that problem. Nature has no malevolent intent, bad thing just happen.

Heh. Prove it. But before you do, keep in mind that I am not a person of faith. I'm largely agnostic in metaphysical and religious matters. So don't progress under the desire to make me a non-believer. Just wanted to clarify. Go ahead.

reply

When you're in that situation, you'll get religious real fast I'd bet.

Not a chance. Watch "Touching The Void".

No, dumdum. A situation like that would make any educated person know for a fact there is no God!!

reply

there is no God!!

Care to prove that? Burden's on you ya know. You have two options, prove the non-existence of God, or qualify the statement as a personal belief, rather than a fact (a word you blatantly used).

reply

I don't think it's a ridiculous line because it is the kind of thing a religious person in that situation seems likely to actually say.
As an agnostic, it's hard for me to imagine how people could look at it that way, in the face of all of the suffering that god apparently allowed as he was watching over the survivors. Seems pretty ironic.
But I don't think the line (script) can be faulted for something the character would actually be likely to say. Seems like more of a problem with consistency/logic within the religion versus within the script.

reply

I guarantee you the survivors would tell you they endured due to their faith.

I just want to know who lied to you and told you that God is supposed to fix all our problems?

We live in a fallen world. Life is supposed to be hard. I've never understood people who say: If God is all powerful then why is there suffering? That question is illogical. How many stories have we read where the protagonist(s) fights for free will? Free will is the ultimate expression of love.

I'm glad there is suffering in life...and I've suffered much. It makes me stronger and it makes me truly appreciate every good thing. Without the darkness there is no dawn. Without pain there is no healing. Without toil there is no victory.
