and wasnt he supposed to be in OH for 6 months? why during the argument at the restaurant did he say "im here for 3 months....3 months"?

I know this is old, but I was under the impression he was only there for about month. When he gets into the fight with Jack at the restaurant, he says, "You've been doing this for the last three weeks" (meaning, Jack has been harassing him for the last three weeks). The harassment started three weeks prior when Mitchell lost the hockey game, and the hockey game was the day Mitchell started his first day of school. So yes, I still think it was an error on the writer's part. He was there for a month. 1 + 3 = 4 months total. Not six.
