Good movie. Two thoughts.

Such a good movie. Loved it. Cheesy goodness. This was a cool gem to re-discover as I took a short break from eighties movies after watching my 773rd one. (Morgan Stewart's Coming Home was my 773rd eighties movie, if you were curious.) I say re-discover because this was the first time I had seen it all the way through. I remember seeing parts here and there years ago.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but two items seemed odd to me.

1) Mitchell brought his surf board on the plane to Cincinnati. It is not so much odd that he had a surf board on the plane, but that his blades were shipped to him. Maybe he loved surfing more than blading?

2) It was odd that Wiley did not know that Nikki was Jack's sister. They are all classmates, right?

Anyway. Maybe I missed explanations to them. Even if they are flaws, the movie is still cool.

It's one of my all-time favorite movies.

If I remember correctly, Mitchell said his surf board was like his American Express card. Without it, he feels naked. Could be that he loved surfing more than blading (and maybe he could only fit so much stuff in his bag).

Yeah, I thought that was odd, too. It looked like the school had a big student population, though, so maybe he had no idea. And Wiley wasn't popular, so maybe he knew who Jack and Nikki were but didn't hang out with them and didn't know that they were siblings.

1. When his aunt asks him about the package, Mitchell says something like... "something I should have never forgotten..." So yeah, he just forgot to bring them. But, while rollerblading was something Mitchell really loved to do, I think the movie makes it pretty clear that he loved surfing more than anything in the world. He lived for it.

2. We didn't see Nikki in the same classroom as Wiley. And even though Wiley was in the same class as Jack, Jack didn't even know his name. Hell, he even asked Wiley where he knew him from when he was looking for a player. So, it's likely Wiley himself didn't know much about Jack, other than he was the high school big shot.
