Mitchell was a whimp

It's hard to like a movie when the main character is a major pussy. Every other scene he's getting punked out, once even in front of his girl and the whole school. And that crap monologue about being a former bully-surfer did'nt explain why he's such a puss. They should have given him an attitude, more like Thrashin.

Yea, I wish he would have just punched one of the guys in the face or at least ran up and shoved that one kid, though pulling down his pants was pretty good. But I'm a girl, and the whole movie I just thought he looked so girly and feminine. It bugged me. I mean he had nice hair and was cute sometimes but for the most part I thought he was super feminine. And he used too much surfer lingo, but I thought it was funny when he said bro in that like cool accent thing so it sounds vaguely like bra. So the first time I could see him not fighting, and especially since it was the girl he liked's brother, but he should have done something to the prep who was messing with his and Wiley's girls. But he just like stood there. Then at the hockey game when the same prep guy just randomly slammed him, he should have fought back! Not just pulled down his pants.

Why? Why do you encourage violence rather than rising above it? By pulling down the guys pants did he not humiliate him? What would a punch in the face prove? Mitchell was able to transcend all that sht that others fall so easily prey to, violence, retaliation and anger.

The world needs more teens like Mitchell.

I have to agree that Mitchell was hardly leading man material and Shane McDermott certainly doesn't have the acting chops to carry a whole movie. The best thing about this movie is that you got to see stand-out work in the early careers of Seth Green and Jack Black.

1. When he almost killed the kid in his story about being a bully surfer, I think that's when he realized we wasn't gonna be violent anymore.

2. It's W-I-M-P

3. It takes a bigger man to walk away.

You know your name better than I do. YAY!

I thought Mitch was very zen. He realized that he who walks a path of destruction is bound to be destroyed. He certainly proved his toughness by conquering the 'Devil's Backbone'. I doubt many who call him a wimp would have the balls to skate the course themselves.

He's a transplanted west coast surfer guy who's now in beautiful Ohio in the winter. Yea let's go surfin now everybody surfin now come on an surfari with me ... You're wanting him to be something that he's not. The fact that he could out skate the preps doesn't surprise me. Although surfers are not wimps. Check out the movie 'Point Break'.

Mitch is far from a wimp in my opinion. He proved that he was the stronger and better man out of all the bastards that tried to provoke him and humilate him. It's a bit of a shame that his friends and girlfriend didn't understand that at first. At least, he knew what he was doing and what was right.

reply

His story about being a former bully and fighter totally explained why he wasn't physical anymore. His point was "where does it end?"

He could fight back, but then the other person would do something worse, and he would do something to top that...where would it end? He finally saw his fate when he almost killed a little boy over nothing.

Nothing was worth fighting for...because it's just pointless.

Awesome movie!

That's exactly what it did. He hurt someone before and didn't want to do it again.

That being said, I think he should have kicked the Prep's ass.

I like how you pacifists live in your own little fantasy world.

LMAO Mitchell a bully? Yea, I don't think so. The simple fact of the matter is he was scared s*hitless of the prep and Jack as both were considerably bigger than him and would have wiped the floor with his wimp ass. The "being a former bully" story was just a lame cop out to disguise what was the the real truth: he was a p*ussy ass WIMP.
