Major plot hole???

Okay, so we know that the main character "remembers" the event because he electrocuted himself at the exact moment of 12:01, but here's the problem.... clearly he doesn't re-electrocute himself again each of the subsequent days, so why does he continue to retain his memory?

Remember, when he electrocuted himself the first time, THAT'S what caused his memory to be retained. But then the day is RESET, so the electrocution never happened yet. So at the end of the night when 12:01 arrives for the first time (to everyone else except him), he should NEED to be electrocuted again, just at the right time, for his memory to be retained.

Good catch. My guess is they just didn't want to show that scene again and again.

Schrodinger's cat walks into a bar, and / or doesn't.

No, on second reset he is in jail and still his memory got carried over

Your observation is correct. Now we can accept it as a plot hole or try and explain it away :-)

Let's say the electric shock dislodged his memory from the time flow on this first reset and let's say it was dislodged from that point on.... this way, there in no need to repeat this event as the "ability" is given once and kept forth...his memory seem somehow to be outside of time and so is not effected by how the time flow may or may not reset.

Naturally we can only speculate how, but fact it this is what the movie shows us. He some how kept his memory based upon one singular event. I say; not a plot hole.

Yeah Dr. Lisa Fredricks even mentions something about the shock moving his consciousness to another energy level.
