Brilliant Film

John Schlesinger was such an underrated director. I don't understand why he isn't celebrated more. I have always loved this movie. I always felt like I was the only one in the world who has seen it. I still feel that way.

Campbell Scott playing a Brit and Hopkins playing an American both with half-assed accents isn't helping me stay in the movie. I am also having trouble understanding Scott's immediate obsession with a woman he met in a club.

I should think a guy who has just arrived in Germany on some sort of intelligence mission would be sufficiently preoccupied with his job that he would resist pursuing a romance with a local woman.

Then of course after barely speaking to one another, we are supposed to believe they are in love. If I were the guys running the show, I would send Scott's character packing.

You are a nobody and a woman like Isabella finds you an interesting man. I would be obsessed, too.

Not many men would resist pursuing a romance with that local woman.

This is a movie. Enjoy. You do like The Dark Knight, Jurassic Park, Superman, right? Give the writer space to create.
