The thing that kills me about this show is after *all* these years Skully is still a skeptic......... how?! i get that's her role but damn past season 6 you gotta be f*** kidding me with the eyes-rolling loll

She hasn't been a skeptic for literally years now. She still questions things but she completely believes aliens and other things exists now. Have you not watched the show since season 7? Even last years finale, she was the one trying to convince the others an alien virus was affecting the population.

She does sound very different now. DD looks much older which is weird when in Californication he looked pretty good but I guess it just caught up with him as it does everyone at some point.

I don't think they're too old. It's not like they're retirement age; they are still in the full years of being experienced assets.

I do notice Gillian's voice though -- it constantly sounds as if she has strained it and has a vocal chord problem.

Right?!? I'm curious as to what happened to it, because that is not just normal 'aging' of a voice. People don't start sounding scratchy and weak like that just because they hit 50 -- there is something going on.

If anything, as some women age they may actually gain more robust voice tone, as the voice can deepen. Gillian is going the other way. It sounds like vocal chords damage to me.

Well, she did use to be a smoker. Maybe she still is. But if the cords are damaged they can often be repaired. I don't get why she just puts up with her voice this way.

Smoking can certainly change a person's voice, yep. She's also done stage work I think? I guess they do mic-up stage performers these days but I wonder if over-use of her voice in stage work has strained and damaged it too. She sounds like someone who has over-used/screamed a lot/ been singing with a poor technique. It's peculiar.
