season 1 into season 2

why did so many people not return?

reply

There was a LOT of mayhem between season one and two - an earthquake, figurative and literal (earth moving and production moving from California to Florida) - on set, with the executive producers changing and all of the head writers shifting into other positions and more 'meddling' from the PTB. The change from season two to three was even more jarring.

I think I read something about the producers wanting a "younger and sexier" feel to the show.

I heard that too. That was the main reason for getting rid of Crocker and Krieg, as I recall. They wanted Hitchcock, but the actor didn't like the way the character was handled (considering seaWest and her replacement Henderson, I don't blame her), and Westphalen also was asked to return, but she didn't like the direction the show was heading.

Ultimately, in just three seasons, there are only three cast members present in all seasons: O'Neil, Ford, and Walenczek.
