How big was the sub supposed to be and how many decks?

How big was the sub supposed to be, and how many decks did it have? Must have been huge to have water tubes and a maglev train onboard just saying.

reply

It is supposed to 'dwarf all of the other subs in the region', per the original description. How big is that? The 18 inch plastic model says it's "1:600".

An 18 inch model at a scale of 1:600 would make the real thing 900 feet long.

About 1000ft long. 5-8 decks, i think.

I always thought the maglev system was more meant as a safeguard against flooded compartments sealing off various areas and that the interior was sufficiently "crowded" that it would be faster to take the maglev than to actually walk from place to place.

That's actually kind of depressing now that I think about it. I just found a schematic image of the ship (top and side view, I think from the actual show) scaled it to 1007 pixels, and then drew in 300 pixel blocks to denote American football fields (300 ft).

The first football field goes from the tip to the end of the head. The second field goes from there to the middle of the docking sphere. The last block reaches from there to a little before the drive fins.

Basically, each section is 300 feet long.

That's not a lot of space, everything must have been extremely compact. Still, the show was probably trying to mimic the Star Trek TNG look, considering how much the show really tried to be "underwater star trek".

Only 8 decks OMG

There must have been some kind of blooper in the show because I think near the end of either season one or two when they had damage someone mentions deck 23

The SeaQuest is like a TARDIS, bigger on the inside. Just like the Enterprise from Star Trek V, when it had at least 78 decks.
