I Wish This Hadn't Been Cancelled

I know it's a silly show, but I think it's a lot of fun. I even kind of preferred it to the original series in some ways when I was a kid. I wish they had made more episodes.

I wish it would have lasted longer as well.

This was okay but I do understand why it didn't work. The SBTB type antics didn't really work in a college setting, they really should have matured the storylines plus being in prime time didn't help matters either. It likely would have went on longer if it had of been a Saturday morning show just like the original series. Also it had heavy competition it was up against Full House and Rescue 911 both shows that hit the top 25 every week in ratings. A channel like NBC of course canned it in a heartbeat since it had very low ratings, which is something the network has always done even today, I'm honestly surprised they let it go for 18 episodes instead of just a couple. This would have hit off if it were on something ABC Family nowadays or even CW.

I thought the name was too long, and tied it to Saturday morning programming. They should have named it something else and marketed it as a spinoff show with some of SBTB's cast. Imagine if they called Frasier "Cheers: the Seattle Years". It just wouldn't work. To match the theme, they could have called it "Edge of Tomorrow" or something.

I kind of adore this show for some odd reason, and prefer it to the high school years. It was fun and often times genuinely witty.

If they only just focused on Zack, Kelly, Staler and Screech (and dropped the two girls and the big guy completely) the show might have worked. Even Mark-Paul Gosselaar said The College years sucked.

The problem is no Lisa, Jessie, Belding, The Max and Bayside meant no Saved By The Bell. It just wasn't fun anymore. The college environment in the show felt stuffy and boring and the storylines were uninspiring and not funny. Everyone could relate to the High School years since they covered universal themes of growing up and good times.

Instant cassettes. They're out in stores before the movie is finished!

I actually prefer the College Years slightly moreso than the original Saved by the Bell, I think the writing was better but I wish they'd dropped the Alex character and brought back Essence Atkins. It didnt work because who could take the Saturday Morning characters of Screech, Zack and Slater in more mature situations? Alot of their fanbase at the time were younger kids so of course they didnt follow it to primetime.

I miss it way more than the high school years.

I love The College Years it was more funny to me.

The college years was a better a show than the original. It was just a little too different and that bad title didn't help at all. People tuned in and saw a completely different show and were probably turned off by that. But I've watched all the episodes of the first three incarnations of this show enough to know, and this one was a real gem and is severely overlooked. The storylines were way more serious and that saturday morning cheesiness was gone but still had the goofy comedy that the high school years had.
