Walker in RTLD

Was Walker who is the CSI guy in RTLD a character in LD? And if he was, who played him.

Well, that's not very good - when Call had a drink with Walker at the start of episode 1 of RTLD, he said to him, "cos it was you who first showed me the herd; you and Augustus". I assumed this meant the herd that they were with during LD, but as there was no Walker in LD, as you have noted, this doesn't continue the story very well.

I took it to mean that Walker and Gus had shown the horse herd to Call during their rangering days- but you might see it different.

Yes i took it also that he ment back in the rangering days, and if you recall in the lonesome dove book version, it mentioned Walker , when Gus and Cal went to san antonio for a cook and went into bar they met up with Walker who was married at the time.

Lord have mercy, William Petersen has been around for ages. Please quit calling him the CSI guy!! If you don't know who someone is then look them up before you post something!

reply

I agree. Look up the actor's name if you want to identify him that way. On the other hand, Gideon Walker was not played by William Peterson. I'm not sure which is the CSI guy, but we can't have three people being confused as two.

reply

He was Not in the original Lonesome Dove...

as I understood the line it was implied that Walker rode with them during their 'prime'... so if anything he would have been present for the events of the Prequels (Deadman's Walk, Commanche Moon)

However since RtLD and the Syndicated TV show(s) are not Directly based on McMurtry's works the people and events of them are Not referenced in the 'Official' projects

I took it simply that "some time in the past" Call, Gus and Walker viewed the herd and probably discussed in passing the beauty or value of it. Now Call views it again and seeks out Walker for help in fulfilling that value. I didn't require it to have a past in the series to be valid, but a tie-in to their history to continue a story.
