SPOILER: the guy who jumped from the…

SPOILER: I thought Jason was killed after his fall (and what a fall that was)… blood spurting from his mouth and all… Just to find out in the following scene that he just suffered from a few broken bones. Did I miss something?

The character mentioned drinking while talking to Jane, IIRC - if he was drunk, and also if he was not afraid of dying and therefore wasn't tensed up with fear, he may have been more relaxed, which can help people survive a big fall.

It's like when you hear of babies falling off balconys etc and coming out of it with hardly a scratch on them - they don't know that falling is going to hurt, so they don't tense up. Therefore they 'bounce' more upon hitting the ground and aren't hurt as badly as they might have been if they'd known it would hurt and had tensed up.

He didn't look good when he hit the ground, but, yeah, he made it and had a few broken bones but it sounded like nothing life threatening. He must have been pretty relaxed when he hit because that was quite a fall!

It looked like he fell from a second story window, which could be survivable. The blood from the mouth could be from internal injuries, or even from his own teeth encounter the inside of his mouth or tongue upon impact. The shot was for dramatic purposes, and a mini-cliffhanger, which the statements afterward resolve. It's a manipulation of the audience.
