Where did it become bad?

To me, it was when Fran and Maxwell's flirt stopped being subtle. From this moment on, Fran became a gold digging whore, and Maxwell, a sexual harassment lawsuit waitng to happen. By the time they got engaged, both became so unbareable and their love story, so tawdry, it wasn't cute or indearing anymore. Maybe it's because I'm older now, but at this point, the magic of the show is always lost on me.
