N-Word Counter

Anyone ever make a tally of all the times the "N-Word" was spoken on NYPD Blue, and by whom?

(From raw memory, I think Bobby Simone has Andy Sipowicz beat by at least 2 utterances!)

I've been re watching some of the later shows and they had one guy call Baldwin a Chimp and Mighty Joe Young (before taking one to the gut). They also used f____t when Medavoy was working as a bouncer.

In "Backboard Jungle"(S3 E10)..great episode, btw, "Kwasi", played perfectly by Tom Wright (who later played George's boss, Mr. Morgan, on Seinfeld), says it once to Sipowicz, and Sipowicz "throws it back at him". Sipowicz repeats it to Lt. Fancy later.

In another episode, a suspect guesses Sipowicz is a racist, and says it once or twice.
Then, there was the episode when Vinnie (Joe Pantoliano)
sets up Cmdr. Haverill, where he called Fancy the n-word on tape. And Fancy forced him to retire.

Other than that, I can only guess it was said minimally throughout the series. I watched right up until they hired the pretty boy from "Saved by the Bell". Then I was outta there.

As to the Bobby Simone reference, you must be joking. In the episode I mentioned, Backboard Jungle, he and Sipowicz actually have words about Andy's exchange with Kwasi, and how Bobby was offended by it (he was there when he used the slur). Bobby's character had immigrant parents.

"I must be crazy to be in a loony bin like this."

Bobby wasn't offended by Sipowicz's throwing the word back at Kwasi, rather a subsequent remark Andy made in the elevator.

Rewatch "Weaver of Hate" (5x14). Bobby rattles off the N-word twice during a case recap for Fancy.

Channel H&I is so bad that a few nights ago they bleeped out the first syllable when Andy mentioned a "cockroach" !
