Charrrrrrming

How could a movie with Michael Maloney and Amanda Root in it be anything but terrific?

reply

I THOUGHT IT WAS GREAT , AND WOULD DEFINITELY BUY IT ON DVD IF IT WAS REASONABLY PRICED , SAY LESS THAN £20 !

Yes, charming is the word.

Why is it that the english are so damn good at charming tv-series and films? It's like you want to jump into the screen and just be there with them...

I couldn't agree more!

I have just re-discovered this old series on VHS, stowed away in a cupboard, and I couldn't remember much about it but the title.

I love steam trains (particularly English steam), and I must confess to a long-time infatuation with the gorgeous Cathryn Harrison - ever since I fist saw her as a doe-eyed child in "Images" with the late, great Susannah York.

I have watched it twice, since I re-discovered it, and I can entirely agree with the other posters.

"Charming" is the word. It is also witty, funny, wonderfully cast and acted, and shows off some beautiful English countryside, to good effect.

....and the steam train.....and the steam traction engines......and the cricket match.....and the wine cellar........and the two other gorgeous daughters, played by Abigail Cruttenden and Charlotte Williams, representing the sexy and the chaste, respectively.

If you like a CHARMING comedy, with a believable plot and some good acting, you owe it to yourself to check out this overlooked gem.
