Interested in a Blu Ray option?

Would fans be interesed in a Blu Ray release of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman? Although, it would not be 100% High Definition, it would be a minor improvement over the DVD versions.

Would love other fans input on the Blu Ray suggestion.

I would as long as the studio does a remaster in 16x9. Shows like Hogans Heroes and Charlies Angels on Universal HD are true HD so Lois & Clark could be done that way as well.

I would be for sure! it would help season 1 look more modern.

Was it shot in 16x9? I doubt it was.

reply

As long as it was shot on film and Not tape it can be easily remastered in true 16X9 HD just like shows such as charlie's angels, hogans heroes which air on Universal HD.

I would definitely be all for some Blu-Ray releases.

Bad News. I just looked it up. Lois and Clark was shot on 35mm film with a 4:3 aspect ration. Because it was shot on film they can remaster it in HD, but it will never be 16:9. Shows like Babylon 5 and Stargate SG-1 shot with 16:9 in mind even though they aired them in 4:3. Unfortunately, they didn't do that with Lois and Clark. Lois and Clark will always be 4:3 unless some idiot at WB decides to release a heavily cropped version.

A bit like the new TNG Sample Blu Ray but would rather it be the correct 4:3 aspect

I find these TV shows re-formatted for 16:9 to look terrible. Seinfeld is one example of how bad this trend is and I dread the thought of how the BD will look whenever its released.

reply

Save your dread for something else, because as much as we might want it, it ain't never going to happen. The economics aren't there. The cost of remastering a show for Blu-Ray requires that it sell far more copies than this show ever would.

All that means is the picture is cropped on the top/bottom. So, do you want to see a 16:9 Lois and Clark or do you want the entire picture? Charlie's Angels, Hogan's Heroes, Friends, and Seinfeld are all missing portions of their pictures. It's the reverse of seeing a theater movie on a 4:3 TV where you are missing part of the picture on the sides. Here you would be mssing part of the picture to make it fit on a 16:9 (or movie) presentation.
