Best looking Superman of all, hands down

I think Tom Welling comes in second in my book and then the most recent guy....hmmm....just pondering...

reply

yes. although I really love how Brandon routh had the natural height, mannerisms and the voice.

the only thing I don't like about dean cain is the fact that he is only 6 foot even and not + 4 inches

Oh Thank you God! Thank you so BLOODY much!Basil Fawlty

Chris Reeves
Tom Wellings yet I couldn't get into smallville that well
Dean Cain (just needed blue eyes)
Brandon Routh

Were all different in life we do our best

reply

Chris Reeves

SIGH!!!

CHRISTOPHER Reeve was the superman in the movies...

George REEVES was the superman in the fifties television show... he was the one who needed the padding...

George Reeves apparently killed himself after the show was cancelled. Despite what others say (that he was murdered) his ghost has been seen wearing the superman uniform and holding a gun in his hand....

his ghost has been seen

Christopher Reeves is the best Superman, no competition there. He got the looks, the acting skill, and even the best Lois Lane.

Brandon Routh gets second place. A bit too thin, too fragile in looks, and a bit too slowish in acting. But otherwise not bad at all. For example, the difference between his Superman and his Clark Kent was probably the strongest and best of them all. He had bad luck though and got the probably weakest Lois Lane, also no romance with her at all. And the script wasnt really that great either. Seriously, spying on your ex with x-ray vision ?!?

Dean Cain gets third place. He just isnt Superman. Because Superman simply isnt a latino lover. But he was definitely a great Clark Kent and got a great match as Lois Lane, too.

Tom Wellings gets the last spot. He had full ten seasons and even after all that time he never ever managed to be a decent Superman or Clark. I think he's just a weak actor. Both his romantic interests (Lana Lang and Lois Lane) have been much better than him, as has his main opponent (Lex Luthor and Lionel Luthor) and his allies (Cloe, his earth father, and his earth mother, the Green Arrow, etc).

P.s.: Oh, and havent watched "Man of Steel" yet. I dont like they picked a new actor for the part (instead of Brandon Routh) and they have Russel Crove, who apparently always is in movies that I dont like (like Gladiator).

Um, excuse me? "Latino Lover"? Could you be any more racist?

First off, Dean Cain is of Japanese descent. Even if he was Latino, there isn't anything wrong with that.

Second, Superman is literally from a different planet. He is from Krypton, therefore he doesn't have to be white. He could be played by anyone of any ethnicity.

I remember some people had issues with Henry Cavill playing Superman because he's British. The counter-argument from fans was, "Well, Superman is from Krypton. It doesn't matter if he's played by someone British."

The same argument needs to made to justify the casting of Dean Cain, who is probably my favorite Clark/Superman.

If you didn't like Dean as Superman, fine. But don't make ignorant statements like "Superman isn't a Latino Lover," or start pointing fingers at Dean's ethnic background. That's uncalled for.

I don't know how well you know this, but when children of color dress up as their favorite superheroes on Halloween, they are often ridiculed by their white peers who tell them, "You can't be Batman; Batman isn't black," or "Superman isn't Asian," etc. Dean Cain as Superman shouldn't be ridiculed as a "Latino Lover," but should serve as an example of how superhero characters need to be (and should be) for everyone.

But its not just him the other two leading heroes are played by British actors
Batman & Spider-Man, whats more Green Lantern, Ryan Reynolds is from Canada.

In Teri's bio it says nothing about her playing roles with two of the world's leading heroes Super & 007

He may be from Krypton, but he was raised in Kansas! Not a hotbed for British accents!

reply

so like two years later and this thread is still alive and kicking on the first page...

about the latino lover...

if superman would ever be played by a latino then how would they ever attest to the fact that superman was under 6 feet?? wayyyyy under six feet???

superman was supposed to be about 6ft three and two hundred thirty five lbs -- but that was muscle. dean was six ft even but he had the natural muscle which George just didn't have.

this show stayed remarkably close to what dc comics had in mind when they did his timeline for 1986's the man of steel... mom created the costume, lois dubbed him superman. the first time she and the supe meet is when he saves that space plane. and jimmy and the watch which sadly never took off.

Dean Cain was perfect as Superman. I tried to get into Smallville, but it just didn't work. Christopher Reeve's Clark was WAY too geeky (big thick glasses).

Dean is 1/4 Japanese, from his birth father, NOT Latino. And yes, even if he was Latino, he still would make a better Superman!

reply

Dean Cain is a sexy superman the first time I saw this show I was hooked.

reply

Christopher Reeve wasn't geeky enough as Clark. Even while he was pushing those glasses back onto his nose, he was still a big, strong, solid guy. Comics Clark used to trip over his own feet, spill coffee all across Lois's desk, and bump into things constantly.

That was back before they gave up on trying to convince us that he could do stuff like this and thereby keep the people around him convinced that Kent was not Superman.

Trade paperback and "Superman collection" hardbacks. Your library probably has a few. The stories can go all the way back to June 1938. Try 'em some time. Most people won't find the little stories very exciting, but I find them very interesting, at least.

Reeve wasn't geeky enough? He essentially did the things you described(spilled, stumbled, tripped, etc), I don't see how him having a strong frame meant he wasn't ACTING geeky enough.

reply

They made Reeve's Clark very dorky as a contrast to Superman, if he acted like Superman, it would've been too obvious that he was. Who would think that that big dork who stutters and can't look you in the eye is the Man of Steel from Krypton?

Plus he uses words like 'gosh', lol!

i think christopher reeve was the most gorgeous superman by far. absolutely perfect casting.

before we get started, does anyone want to get out?

reply

I personally think Christopher Reeve was the best looking Superman, but Dean was cute too.

reply

I think Dean Cain was the hottest Superman then Tom Welling, then Brandon Routh and Christopher Reeve.

real human being and a real hero

reply

To be honest, I'm indifferent about the attractiveness of Superman. To me, Reeve simply looked the most like how I envision Superman in live action. Incidentally, that means he's also attractive.

reply

Absolutely, Christopher Reeve. They hit a home run with that casting. He also hit the weight bench too look right in the costume. Dean Cain worked because of his charisma, not because he particularly looks like Superman.

reply

[deleted]

Maybe worst looking of all. He's really short which doesn't suit superman at all and his eyes are really small too. Christopher Reeve is the ultimate obviously, and followed by Brandon Routh (purely for his look).

reply

People here are rating them in terms of who looked most like/played Superman the best, which is not the OP's question. Dean Cain was definitely the most handsome looking. Then Brandon Routh, then Chris Reeve (who I always thought had a strange Michael Jackson non-nose), and THEN Henry Cavill, who I don't find good looking at all and really a bit off-putting. But even he's better than Tom Welling, who I thought was neither handsome nor looked ANYTHING like any version of Superman, ever.

reply

Dean Cain was a VERY handsome Clark. If some guy looking like that wanted to flirt with me I would not care where he cam from.

reply

I just seen him in Supergirl Have been watching this and now going start viewing its season 3.
