Michael Landes. He was funnier, he had better chemistry with the cast, and he seemed more natural.

Reboot, restart or re-imagining is another word for remake

reply

He seemed to have a much better bond with Perry.
and i love it when he comes into Clark's appartment and says right behind you chief (has he been looking for a new job thanks to Lex) just the way he says it, it's like a little lad saying right hear dad.

Landes. I hate that he was replaced. I just couldn't enjoy the new Jimmy at all.

This was one of those situations where the Producers were trying to grab a younger crowd by using some kind of Tiger Beat cover boy, but it really hurt the show.

Also, the initial producer was using the show to create a romance saga with Lois and Clark, but as the series went on they made the same mistake we see all the time by letting the characters get together way too soon.

In any case they keep getting the hair color wrong in DC Jimmy has red hair,
Jack Larson didn't neither these two actors, the only time we see Lana Lang she's a blonde, DC's Lana is a Redhead

Michael Landes. I mean I'm always going to prefer the original and hate when a character is replaced with another actor, but he was much more likeable. And I think I read that they got rid of him because he "looked too much like Dean Cain." Stupid.

reply

When I was younger, I preferred Justin Whalin but now that I'm older, I found that I enjoy both portrayals.

Uh-oh.
Not a word you want to hear in this house.
Catch ya on the flip side.

reply

Yes, I'm definitely a Michael Landes fan too. I don't hate Justin Whalin, he did a good enough job, but I was a big fan of Season 1 and the way that whole case gelled. I also had to roll my eyes at the whole theory that the powers that be came up with that Michael looked too much like Dean Cain and that people would "confuse" them.

The funny thing is, I started watching around season 2 or 3 so Justin Whalin is the Jimmy I was introduced to. When I got around to watching Season 1, I was a bit surprised to see a different Jimmy but I ended up liking Landes even more.

I never understood their logic for firing Landes. Sure, there's a slight resemblance but he doesn't look THAT much like Dean Cain. Besides, they could have used it to humorous effect:

Lois: Clark, you remind me of someone.
Clark: Uh-oh ... who?
Lois: I can't put my finger on it. You look a lot like someone else in Metropolis. Someone I know well.
Clark: Lois, there's something I've been wanting to tell you for a while now.
Lois: Oh wait, I've got it ... it's Jimmy!
Clark: What? Oh ... oh yeah, I guess I do look a little bit like Jimmy. (Phew!)
Lois: Now what is it you were about to tell me?

that is because there is no logic to that because that is not the reason!

truth is... he was asking for like twice he was making per episode.

and they gave him a couple of chances -- they were willing to work with him. he was making 8 grand, he wanted like 15.
they said, that's great, how about 9 grand?
I want 15.
that's great how about 10?
I want 15.
that's great, how about 12?
I want 15.
you're fired.

and, according to a girl I went to college with, he was VERY hard to work with. he disliked ANY SORT of camaraderie on the set, and was VERY serious.

I liked Whalin. He seemed more fun as Jimmy--the younger sidekick. Landes just seemed like he was always coming out of a funeral. Yes it is a workplace in what is supposed to be NYC, but he is supposed to be happy at some point.

reply

Whalin proved that Jimmy was younger--but was capable of important secret keeping (his dad). Ergo Lois and Clark would be able to tell him about Superman--without him blabbing it if there had been later seasons.
