When the new actor came in as Jimmy why were they pushing cowboy boots?

Like as soon as the recast appeared we see him in jeans, cowboy boots, plaid shirt... were they trying to push the country boy image on the fans? For product placement?

I bet to make him look taller. Justin Whalin is 5'7 and Dean Cain is 6 foot.
