Your Favorite Letterman Moment?

what's your favorite or best memories you have of the legend of late night? ... Not really a moment but, always enjoyed the president Bush Bloopers segment, forgot the exact name.

Also whenever Jack Hannah stopped by.. like when he got stuck on top of the camel

I know it's vague but my favorite moment(s) were that first season in 1982. I was a teenager during that summer and always stayed up late, flipping channels back and forth between MTV, HBO, and Late Night with David Letterman. Often the channel would just stay on NBC and I'd be talking to my friends or reading a magazine with Letterman always there, talking to some famous/some not so famous at his dimly lit desk.

It was such a new type of show, and at the right time because before Letterman once Carson signed off the air there was very little to watch, especially when you got tired of the same old music videos and/or when HBO had nothing to watch. I never evolved into one of those young college students who just had to watch Letterman every night but I'm very nostalgic for that first summer he was on the air!

Interesting reply; I think people's favorite shows and TV moments are almost always closely related to the context of their life and culture at the time. I know that mine are. Thanks for sharing.

His interview with Shirley MaClaine.

But that was a different show or 'era.

When he threw some objects from high buildings. Silly but good anyway hehe.

His first post 9/11 monologue was quite the moment.

I remember that. (Yup I’m old.)

He was quietly disgusted.
I remember he said something like How people can use Religion to Rationalize this, I will never understand.

Now. we have have had a long time to examine all of this, so I don't give Letterman a huge AttaBoy, but seeing him so somber and serious when he reveled in being a Bill Murray type goof ball, I was seriously impressed and moved.

Interviewing Bo Derek.

Any time he insulted Richard Simmons. Hilarious.

My favourite moments was Dave trying to reign in Robin Williams. Robin could barely sit down for five seconds and watching Letterman laughing and trying to conduct an interview was priceless. Eventually he’d give up and just let Robin do his thing.
