I was looking for a series from around 1990 (I think)that I remember being good. All I can remember about it was that in the pilot the main character drove his car into the ocean in Key West because he was running away from something and he couldn't drive any further then he settled down there.
Is this that show?
If not, anyone have any idea what the hell I'm talking about?

Probably: I remember the guy driving his car into the ocean. Key West ran for about a dozen episodes; then it was gone. Fox was still a toddling network back then. There was one episode with Mariska Hargitay as the girl friend visiting from NJ.

Thanks for the responses, I remember that one scene in the pilot and that I liked the show, maybe because at that time I was married to my future ex-wife (thank god she's gone!) and driving until you ran out of land then getting a bartending job looked really appealing at the time.

I love the intro for the first episode. He drives his car off the road and onto the beach. He gets out and goes several paces. Turns and shoots the car several times with a gun. It highlights his intent and desire to stay put and become a writer following in the steps of Hemingway. Another one of the character's witness the shooting thus begins a wonderful series. I think about this show all the time!!
