Show Index?

Anyone know the order and names of all of the episodes? I know there were 13, I have 6 I am ripping from VHS to DVD. It would be nice to know what the episode numbers are.

reply

Based on what I acquired on DVD ... this is the way they were given to me:

1) The Pilot Episode
2) The Second Day in Heaven
3) The Great Unknown
4) Less Moonlight
5) Pieces of a Man
6) The Greening
7) Act of God
8) Gimme Shelter
9) Crossroads
10) We, the People
11) Compadres
12) The System
13) Heavy Metal, Heavy Hearts

...was all printed on 4 DVD's (total).

I have to say ... I like all the episodes. The Pilot, #2 are a nice introduction into the series.

But, episodes #7, 8 and 9 are probably my all time favorites.

Thanks for the info. Have you watched all 13 episodes? If so can you give me a rundown or a short plot description of each? I have 6 that are of good quality and I know that I have 10 & 11 but don't know what the other 4 are.

Hi Paulh -- To do a rundown of all the episodes would (Imo) do an injustice to the show. There are so many things going on ... different characters doing this or that, having their own personal dramas/comedies.

In Act of God ... it's the episode that centers around Hurricane Andrew. A Classic due to the place it has in Florida history ... add in the fact of how hurricanes are pelting Florida now. H. Andrew was considered the worst natural disaster/Hurricane, and the costliest to hit the USA .. until Katrina.

The next (#8) has the aftermath of the Hurricane in the Keys. And JoJo having a battle with some spirits at Dr. Clark's home.
#9 ... if memory serves me correctly is the episode about the Bermuda Triangle. I could be wrong though ... I'll just have to watch these again ... which I do every few months or so when I need the "Down Island" (re: Island time) frame of mind that I get in the Keys. The episode I'm talking about has King Cole's father show up after decades of being lost. FAN-tastic episode (Imvho of course) and also one can almost see where the X-Files got their jumpstart. (Guess which came first? X-files or Key West? Nice timing FOX).

If I had to pick a least-favorite episode .. if there is such a thing ... it would be Shamus's 2 friends coming down to see him. No particular reason why except that I liked the others much more. But was still a good episode.

If there were enough people actually following this thread, we could have quite a large amount of Trivia questions to be asked and answered. THIS SHOW WAS THAT GOOD! (as always, Imho) ";^)~

Not too sure if I answered your question(s) .... I'd recommend doing the Due Diligence on your part. Meaning: Watch all the episodes. You won't be unhappy with what you gain.

I remember being in the Keys all through the mid-70's, 80's and early/mid-90's. I haven't been back to Key West for a few years. Everytime I go ... I sense a piece of history drifting away, or being sold off. We now enjoy some of the other key's when we go. The Island of Bones is always there, like a rock, whenever we need to head to the end of the free(?) world and know we have come as far as we can go ... without having to swim. Reminds me of a Joni Mitchell song .. something about "Hey Farmer, put up a parking lot." Hard to find those unspoiled places anymore .... (and we wouldn't tell anyone where they are anyway, right?).

Good Luck & Take care!

P.S. - Recording off of VHS'??? I still have my original VHS recordings ... lousy and getting worse over time (Magnetic). There's some much better quality floating around out there that came off the Satellite Dish to TIVO to DVD. You'd do better just finding one of those. I've made personal copies and sent to friends/relatives who wanted the show. There really is a cult following out there. Add in some Jimmy Buffett music, some Fat Tuesdays frozen concoctions from the home blender, a few Travis McGee novels, Palm trees .. and voila' .. The real Florida Key's (as remembered).

Thanks for the info.

I ordered a complete set that has been offered here and the quality is, to be frank, horrible. Luckily I was able to identify the 5 (not 6) episodes I have. The quality is surprisingly good for being that old. I always used SP on my VCR and got good quality. I'm dumping them to DVD and then pulling them off to my Mac, high bit rate and full quality video, editing out the commercials and converting them for my iPod. The quality is better than I would have though possible from a 10+ year old source. 640x480 Video looks surprisingly good on my 42 inch plasma when played back.

Turns out I have episodes 3,4,10, 11 $ 12. Along with the poor quality set I bought through here I can at least enjoy the whole series, although the purchased set doesn't rip very well even at high quality settings.

Again, thanks for your help.

Paul

Sorry to hear about the poor quality. I used to watch my VHS' and understand. (I'm going to assume you didn't get them from the same person I got them from) I sang a song the day I got my DVD copy.

If interested in a better set ... I can tell you who it is .. just send me a private msg via profile, and let me know your real email address. I can point you in at least the right direction ... if they are still doing it. they were unbelievably cheap too (at that time.. about 2 years ago $30/incl'd storage case). Of course, all I bought were the DVD Disc's, the rest was free material. Great quality and a person of their word.

Take care.
