I've been trying to find out what the show's theme song is-the title, who sings it, etc. Does anybody have this information? I've looked on google, imdb, .. to no avail. So if you know, please tell me! :) Thank you!

"Lady Madonna", the original theme song is by the Beatles. I'm not sure about the second, here is a website I found - http://www.cfhf.net/lyrics/grace.htm - there's a short explanation about the second theme song and why it is used for every episode in syndication.

reply

Hi again,
Just found this site - http://timstvshowcase.com/grace.html - you can download the original theme song (as performed by Aretha Franklin).

Do you know who sings the second theme song "perfect world " and is there a full lenght version of the song anywhere?

reply

"Perfect World" was the second theme song for the show. The Beatles "Lady Madonna" was the first one. I'm not sure who sang Perfect World, but it sounds a little like Melissa Etheridge

reply

"Perfect World" sounds like it being sang by a guy.

reply

Well, if you think so. LOL! Personally, I dont. but Melissa has that Raspy guy-ish sounding voice sometimes....like Kim Carnes...

I remember when Bette Davis Eyes first came out, (I was young, like 12 or something) and I thought it was Rod Stewart.

Of Course, I hear it now, and I think it sounds NOTHING like Rod Stewart.

Anyway, I'll keep searching and see if I can find who sang it.

reply

Uh...no, DesperadoGirrl, it was definitely sung by a guy. C'mon kids, it wasn't too hard to find his name since it's on the same Grace Under Fire page that we all used to get to this message board! His name is Zachary Throne and he's listed on imdb's Grace Under Fire page, down in the "Other Crew" list--says right there "Singer, theme song." I also found this quote on another website: "His singing voice can be heard in all of "The Brady Bunch" movies as well as the NBC television series, "California Dreams" and the ABC television series, "Grace Under Fire", for which he performed the theme song. When he's not acting, he's playing lead guitar in the band, Mother Pearl, who can be seen gigging around Los Angeles." Didn't look further to find a full-length version, but maybe by searching using his name and the name of his band, you can find one. Glad someone brought this up, it was a catchy song.

I love Melissa's stuff, but that is DEFINATELY not her doing Perfect World. 99% sure it is a guy. (I'd seen the name listed somewhere but of course I can't recall it now) D'oh! I'll try to find it again.

reply

actually i think it sounds like brett herself but i could be wrong.....

I much prefer, the syndication theme song, or the 2nd one. I've never seen the original theme.

I have a couple of videotapes of Grace Under Fire when it was first-run, and I have to say I MUCH prefer Lady Madonna AND the original opening of the show.

reply

I know for a fact Zachary Throne sings the song but I searched everywhere and cant get it anywhere. So if anybody finds that "perfect world" song pls share it with me. Thanx :)

reply

I've only seen the show is reruns so I never knew their was an original theme song. I thought "Perfect World" was always the song, hah.

reply

I thought that also

This not only has the "Perfect World" song but a video of the opening.

Well, better late than never. Here are the lyrics:

Can you see me walkin' down the street
Beat box blares a clip track to my empty mind.
Now my walk is playin' a slow and endless march
And I'm looking for that bright spot in the sky.
But in my eyes there's a perfect world.
I can see it: A perfect world.

Well it's been years now, but if anyone still cares, I found this old show opening using "A Perfect World," by Zachary Throne, on YouTube ... it seems that's the one most people were interested in.

As mentioned above, this was the show's second opening, the first one was a special recording of "Lady Madonna." I always rather preferred the first one; maybe that was because I actually remember watching the brand-new show when it first started running in 1993, and was just used to it that way.
