Shame we didn't meet his son in 2016

Just watched this on iPlayer and was actually pleasantly surprised. I was never a huge fan of the show back in the 90's but did watch it on occasion and always liked the time travel premise.

Assuming it isn't coming back so....

It's a shame they couldn't tie up a few loose ends such as Gary bumping into his son (who would be around 70 in 2016) and discovering that he was a famous scientist who had been working on a time travel experiment in the early 90's (when he would have been in his 40's) and his lab just happened to be near Duckett's Passage. Something went wrong and the research was abandoned... leaving Gary to discover the portal.

So his experiment turns out to be the very reason why he exists at all (the loop was predestined).

Just an idea.

He already met his son in the original series, he was a down and out gambler who owned money to a lot of people.

Gary then set up a trust fund for him with his music royalties and the next time he saw him he was a business man of some kind.

Ian Lavander played him.

Further to NotAmyMerrick's reply, it's not that kind of show.

It is first and foremost a sitcom. I think the scifi fans among us are very lucky that the time travel is handled as consistently as it is - heck, I've seen time travel films that were nowhere near as consistent.

So this is permanence, love's shattered pride.
What once was innocence, turned on its side.

Micheal was a bridge builder and moved to New Zealand by the 90s after Gary set up a trust fund for him writing songs in the 40s to improve his life, by that time Michael was married to his wife and had two children named Phoebe and Dennis, if Goodnight Sweetheart ever comes back I'd want in a new episode is to see Michael return to England with his well grown up kids possibly with a kiwi accent (that's if they lived in NZ more than UK), or Gary could use Yvonne or Rons Facebook to search for them, either way makes a good episode
