Frasier's Status

I always found it unbelievable that a talk show personality on a local radio station could afford the things Frasier did. He couldn't have been paid that well.

Wasn't it established on Cheers that he was from a rich family and that he was a very successful psychologist?

reply

He been a top Boston psychiatrist for years, before moving back to Seattle, and a good psychiatrist with posh clients can make big bucks! Plus Frasier's mother may have been wealthy, or from a wealthy family, so he may have had a trust fund or inheritance in addition to his Boston earning.

In other words, he was quite prosperous before he took the radio job.

reply

He was a shrink and probably just used the radio show to pump up his ego some more. What never made sense was where the working class father fit in.

I understand that he was a psychologist when he was on Cheers, but I am not sure if that money carried over all those years later toward the end of Frasier. Also if his mother had money, why did Martin have to work as a cop? Some of this just doesn't make sense, but it is a television show, so I guess I have to suspend my disbelief somewhat.

reply

Martin DIDN'T have to work as a cop. He chose to. He met Hester (Fraziers mother ) at a murder scene (she was a forensic psychiatrist).

I loved that apartment of his - holy cow that must've cost a fortune. Yah I always assumed he was from a wealthy family..

reply

When Lilith and Frasier were on Cheers, they had a nice apartment, but it was nothing like the one on the show Frasier. Anyhow, I will just think that Frasier was from a wealthy family and continue to watch it.
