The Original Short..

Should be on a DVD by itself.

It's basically genius and is, in my opinion, a Holy Grail of collaborations. I mean... Brad Bird and Tim Burton? That's just... AMAZING.

my brother and i talk about this cartoon to this day.
it was SOOO funy.
we had it on VHS (taped from Amazing Stories) for a LONG time.
then i lost it.

when the series came out 6 years later, i was SO happy.
but it wasn't as funny.

GAH! You lost the VHS?!?! NOOO!

I still talk about it, too... even though I saw it more recently. I'm telling all of my friends about it and(since most of my friends are animation majors) they all seem terribly interested.

Season 2 of "Amazing Stories" has just been released and it contains the "Family Dog" episode.

there is no source from what i can tell, because i just did an exhaustive search on google, Amazon, ebay, wal-mart, and columbia house.

it doesn't exist.

i also checked out Netflix.com, and they had a picture of it up, but posted this disclaimer:

"This movie has not been released on DVD. Future availability is not guaranteed."

so, maybe it's slated for release at some time in the future, but it has not been released yet.

I just saw the short the other day. One the Encore family of channels showed one of the "Amazing Stories" anthology movie (#3) with it in it. I had forgotten all about it until it started!

You can watch it on NETFLIX's "Watch Now" service. All of Amazing Stories Season 2 is available. I'm watching "family dog" right now as a matter of fact.
