Recent Shows similar too class of '96

Hi, I remembered my sister really loved this show (and I mocking her by saying, isn't 1996 in the future :-)). I remember in 2002 there was a show called University or something like it. It was set in a fake new england university(of course!) called doorchester or sumthing...It kind of resonated with me because that was the year I entered university. Anyone remember this show...I kind of liked the first couple of episodes but then I lost track of it and never heard of it again! Did it get better or worse? Also why does intellectual academic shows always get canned, I even liked the education of mr. bickford although it focused primarily on the faculty. Everything else is horrible like animal house or sorority boys. Blech!!
