Boy Meets World experiencing a racial reckoning after former star Trina McGee revealed racist treatment

In January, McGee, who played Angela Moore in the last two seasons of the ABC TGIF comedy, tweeted about a racially insensitive comment on set, remembering Will Friedle calling her "Aunt Jemima" while she was putting on makeup backstage. She also recalled the Boy Meets World stars greeting her with "blank cold stares." When she reunited with the cast for the Disney Channel spinoff Girl Meets World, McGee recalled Rider Strong trying to explain Friedle's comment as playful joking and prodding to get a rise out of her. “When I walked away from that experience, I got pissed again because I was like, What the hell?,” she says. “Years later, this is the explanation for it?” McGee now says after voicing her pain, she was able to have a healing conversation with Friedle in which he apologized. McGee also received an apology from Danielle Fishel, who last month was called out for her behavior after expressing her support for Black Lives Matter. "I owed @realtrinamcgee an apology for being rude, cold, & distant when she guest starred on GMW (her tweet regarding warm hellos being met with cold blank stares was about me)," Fishel tweeted. "Trina and I spoke over a month ago and she gracefully accepted my apology" However, McGee has yet to hear from Savage. “I do not talk to Ben Savage at all,” she says.

The Aunt Jemima joke was definitely in poor taste but it's good to see that it was more or less reconciled .The cold stares thing could just be a personality issue more than anything. Apparently Will Friedle & Rider Strong were close friends in real life it so Strong trying to be diplomatic on Friedle's behalf makes sense. The off color Aunt Jemima joke was innapropriate.
The cast (Topanga in particular) being cold & distant may have had more to do with personality & being a bit threatened because Angela was always hotter

I have to wrap my brain over the fact that Trina is now 50. I always knew that she was much older than the character that she played on BMW, but still. I suppose that BMW was really the first big thing that people noticed her in, so she's kind of a late bloomer to the acting game.

ANGHELA HOTTER THAN TOPANGA?....LMAO...CRYSTAL METH IS BAD FOR YOU.

So, what's she pissed at Ben Savage for then? He never made the disgusting comment.

Aunt Jemima was the same as people calling a white girl with pigtails "Pippi Longstockings" back in the 90s. Or if you wore a bucket fishing hat you might be called "Gilligan" It was a commonly used joke. Just anyone dressed similar to a famous person/character.

"Aunt Jemima" was such a common joke that it was used in black movies with all black casts for laughs. I can remember them.

Now if that joke bothered Trina thats totally understandable. She confronted Will at the time and he apologized. She said she knew the apology was genuine and he wasn't meaning to be offensive or anything. She even called him a friend. I really hope she would react the same to a black person caller her aunt jemima or else she's just fake.

It seems the only reason she brought it back up was so she could sensationalize the story and make headlines. Afterwards she apologized to Will for bringing it back up and said it was wrong for her to do that since hes always been a good friend. Well, you already made headlines with it Trina.

By bundling everything together she makes it seem like it was all because she was black. Trust me most people have seen someone that they didn't keep in touch with after a longtime and then they get ignored or whatever. She was upset about not being invited to fan expos which isn't even organized by the cast.

Lastly, I'm sure they're filming long days and get tired of eachother at points. One might call another a "bitter b" Shawn says there were times where they were brutal to eachother and made eachother cry. Maybe Danielle and Ben are a-holes idk. I don't really care personally. I wouldn't make it all about race. But bringing up the Aunt Jemima thing was silly and petty.

Damn you’re stupid

This has already been discussed and Trina says the news is always trying to divide people and that she never called any of them racist. They created their own narrative.

Slapped. Didn’t read.
