Hillarious!

I just picked up this show on DVD, it is hillarious! The performances are pitch perfect and the show is laugh out loud funny. Whenever a show like this comes along it is cancelled as quickly as it starts. It is a bummer that we lose great shows like this and so much garbage stays on the air. If you can get your hands on this show do it, and you are in for a real treat!

It's on DVD?! What country!

This used to be on late on Channel 4 in the Uk and I thought it was brilliant. Thing is, anyone I talk to don't know it. Shame. The bit at the start of the series when they find out who the father of their son is priceless.

I got it at www.raretv.uk.com

It figures that A.) This brilliant show got canceled for being too smart; and B.) the only place to find it on DVD is in the UK. Too many Americans don't appreciate the good stuff, and we're stuck with cheap reality shows as a result! Pleeeeease release this on DVD here in the States! I absolutely loved this show!

I tried www.raretv.uk.com and www.raretv.uk and neither page comes up. Is there any more info you might have where I can find Bakersfield P. D. on DVD? I am in the U.S. Thanks for any help!

Great show

I too can remember watching the late night re-runs on CH4 (in the UK),

this show had great chemistry between the two leads.

Hopefully they will bring this out on DVD

I remember watching this on CH4 at the time too...I really enjoyed it, it's only now years later I've thought about it and tracked down the name of the show.

For some reason the two things I always remembered were the main detective waxing lyrical about the show he was about to go off and see ("La Boheme, Wade! La Boheme!")...and their rather nervous and thoughtful reasons when a local farmer started to get very descriptive about how she milks the cows... :P

Damn, I don't find it on DVD on Amazon and that site raretv.co.uk appears to be gone. I also miss this show; I only watched it when it first aired on French TV like 15 years ago but I never forgot how hilarious it was. There's never been another show like this; other than regretting that it was discontinued, I wish the one season was at least available on DVD. And the two main characters were just so awesome together, too.
