Michael O'Hare's Illness

I'm watching the last disc of season 1. I never noticed it during B5's TV run, but I now can see in his face how awful a time he was having. I am bi-polar and my demons make carrying on any kind of normal actitvity virtually impossible at times. I don't even want to think about what he was dealing with. My heart goes out to the poor man's memory.
Mr. O'Hare, thank you for giving us a wonderful character.May your afterlife grant you the peace your life could not.

Kinda makes that whole "There's a hole in your mind" angle a little morbid in hindsight, doesn't it?

It was three years ago yesterday (May 24, 2013) that JMS held his 'Promise Panel' at the Phoenix Comic-Con reunion convention. It was an incredibly special panel where JMS paid tribute to Rick Biggs, Andreas Katsulas, Jeff Conaway and especially to Michael O'Hare. I feel lucky to have been there.

Oh, wow. I feel like a fool. I didn't even know those others had passed. Commander Jefferey Sinclair, Security Officer Zack Allen, Dr. Stephen Franklin and Citizen G'Kar are now exploring a realm we can only speculate about.

We'll miss you, gentlemen.

Yeah, it's a bit sobering to realize how many people from the show are gone, and at young ages. Turhan Bey passed away; but, he was not a young man. However, Rick Biggs, Michael O'Hare and Jeff Conway were still relatively young. Conway and O'Hare are particularly sad. Biggs' death was sudden and Katsulas started having health problems before he passed; but, O'Hare suffered for a long time and Conway's drug problems were a serious battle.

Fortunately, Ah keep mah feathers numbered for just such an emergency!

I think that O'Hare has said that it was especially difficult because he was playing someone who was essentially suffering from mental illness.

Unless Alpert's covered in bacon grease, I don't think Hugo can track anything.

I thought he looked fine in season 1. It was the double episode on Season 3 which showed something was wrong with him clearly. he looked much older, tired and he kept on blinking too frequently without any apparent reason.
