What Bothered You About This Show?

What characters in this show annoyed you? The only thing that bothered me about it was the Buttons and Mindy cartoon, because in every episode, Mindy would do something dangerous or naughty, and Buttons would get the blame. Yet, I think all the other cartoons were hilarious!

I didn't like Buttons and Mindy that much either. Except for the one episode where Buttons actually gets a treat and doesn't get yelled at. I also disliked almost all the hippos episodes except for the one with Noah and his ark.

You don't like Buttons & Mindy? I like those cartoons. They're number four on my list of favorites.

Anyway, I never liked Katie Ka-Boom. What's the deal with her anyway.

Well, at least we still got imortal characters like The Warners and Pinky & The Brain. They made this show wonderful.

I liked Katie went Ka-Boom. It was hillarious.
Katie's father: Someone called.
Katie: Who was it?
Katie: YOU DON'T KNOW WHO IT WAS?!
Katie's father: Well I didn't know who it was. Some guy!
Then she would turn into some kind of monster. I thought it was hillarious.

LOL! I'd forgotten that line.

I'm opposite of you, I liked Katie Ka-Boom, thought her cartoons were funny.

Chicken Boo was awful. Mindy and Buttons were okay (although one-dimentional at times). I agree that the Hippos were annoying, so were Mr. Scullhead and I didn't liked Pinky and the Brain either.

Actually, the episodes with the Warners were the highlights, but some of their episodes with historical context were sometimes dumb (especially the Beethoven episode)

reply

Rita and Runt, beyond annoying. Its a combination of his retard rain man impersonation and her crummy singing. They are never funny, just boring.

reply

Rita and Runt were the ones I hated the most because they were just crappy showpieces for Bernadette Peters' singing, but I wasn't a fan of Buttons and Mindy or the hippos either. Honestly I can do without a bunch of the Goodfeathers bits as well.

Katie Kaboom didn't bother me because it was weird just for the sake of it.

Speaking of all the different studios, wich one was it that animated Moby or not Moby. I didn't like their version of the Warners. I prefer the Hercule Yakko type animation.

I did find Slappy funny at times but other times she seemed a bit annoying. There were some sketches that weren't that great but nothing stcks out, pretty much all the main warner sketcheas and Pinky and the Brain were the best.

I couldn't stand Mindy and Buttons. They were always my least favorites. The Hip Hippos weren't great, either. The Goodfeathers had their moments, but I could generally take them or leave them. But Mindy and Buttons are the only characters who out-and-out bothered me.

reply

Never was a big fan of the Good Feathers: unless it was the Pidgeon on the Roof episode or the West Side Pidgeons gotta love the parodies.
Katie Ka-boom was rather annoying
And the Hip Hippo's bugged me.

Everyone else was a-okkay with me.

I didn't care for Katie Kaboom, that was dumb, the Hippos were dumb, I like that kid who had the friend Randy? And he was telling these odd jokes. I didn't like the fact they canceled Animanics at episode 99, why not give it the last shot? I don't like the fact there weren't anymore Animaniacs movies. It was a great show, with great ratings, the toys sold very well, beause I always had a hard time finding them at the local toys r us all 4 of them. So what was the deal with the cancelation, going cheap by buying already made Japanese shows, like Pokemon and use American voices. I hate how the industry has gone down hill for originality. Maybe the Japanese are right, lazy fat americans?

Freakazoid had it even worse, taken over by Cartoon network, and no new episodes.

I didn't like Rita and Runt either

I really only like the episodes with the warners. all the other segments like rita and runt, the hippos, pinky and the brain, mindy and buttons, and everything else i really don't like.

but i do like the short little cartoons like mime time, randy beaman kid, and good idea/bad idea. those are always funny.

but what REALLY bothered me about the show is that they stopped making it. This was one of my favorite shows as a kid, and even watching it now, i still love it!

Who Did I Dislike?: oh yes, Mindy and Buttons, since none of the plots were original, had the same running gags, and poor Buttons always got the blame. If I was that dog, I'd go instantly insane, bite the mom and run away forever. Thankfully, they ended this curse in Wakko's Wish. Which reminds me, that could've been a better movie if not for an unoriginal plot and a use of drama for the Warners. Yakko, Wakko and Dot do NOT mix with drama. Wish it would've gone to theatres, too.

Crime DOES pay... it's making cheap direct-to-video sequels that doesn't.

I get mad at those commercials too XD I also laugh at Mime Time, so you are not alone on either front.

reply

My only gripe with Buttons and Mindy is, why weren't the parents looking after her?

Chicken Boo was the most worthless character on the show.

And if they allways yelled at Buttons for not taking care of Mindy, why did they still let him watch over her?

Rita and Runt I thought some of them were alright. But I didn't like the Les Miserables episode. You know which one I'm talking about, right?

I hated Katie-Kaboom, Buttons and Mindy, and Rita and Runt. Still, all in all, I'd give Animaniacs a 10 out of 10.

reply

Nothing particular about this show bothered me. But it certainly bothers me that so many people don't know how to appreciate Rita and Runt for what it was. Sure, it was lacking in terms of humor, but in terms of plot it was great (for the most part). And I actually quite enjoyed Rita's songs. As well as the interaction between Rita and Runt. Especially if you look at classics like "Putting on the Blitz". That episode was incredibly sweet.

So, yeah. There were some segments I didn't particularly enjoy, such as the hippos, but even those didn't bother me a whole lot. I just found them uninteresting. Besides, I enjoyed most all segments (even ones like Chicken Boo and Buttons and Mindy). But that's just me. :P

reply

[deleted]

Yeah...."Putting on the Blitz" was a very sweet episode indeed. One of my favorite episodes from ANY of the Animaniacs segments. And not just for the sweetness between Rita and Runt (namely her kissing him, and giving up her home to be with him) Although, that's definitely a big part of my reason for liking it. But even without that, it was still awesome.

reply

[deleted]

I guess she liked him (or maybe even loved him) too much to leave him. ^_^

reply

[deleted]

yep. Except in this case, there's a possibility that she loves him. Which can't be said for Pink & The Brain. Unless, they're ***.

reply

[deleted]

I think there's more than a "possibility" that she loves him. In fact, I think there's at least a 90% chance that she does.

reply

[deleted]

See? Now you're making sense. Of course I'm right. Especially when you take Potb into consideration. Not to mention, she's generally sweet to him in most other episodes, too, even if not as much so as this one. A lot of the songs I've heard her sing, hint that she loves him (or at least has a crush on him, or something)

Yeah, I liked that episode, it was very sweet that Rita wanted to stay with Runt

That is the beauty of Rita and Runt.

I truly HATED the Hippos, always have, nothing funny about them whatsoever. Never really liked Rita & Runt either. And depending on my mood I can either enjoy or hate Buttons & Mindy.

My favs have always been The Warner Brothers & Their Sister Dot, Slappy Squirrel and Pinky & the Brain.

Dragonzord! Mastodon! Pterodactyl! Triceratops! Saber Toothed Tiger! Tyrannosaurus!

I could take most of the segments. To this day, I haven't a clue why they made Pinky and the Brain into its own series, when the short segment was just too repetitive to be entertaining. It always had the same little intro song, the same "what are we doing tonight?" thing that you had to sleep through, then after they got through that whole bit, they actually DID something, then ended with the same old "what are we doing tomorrow night" thing. The only time I could stand it was in the quick "Pinky and Rita" bit where she ate him, I felt like I had gotten my revenge. It wasn't Pinky I hated, it was the boringness of Brain and the entire repetitiveness of the segment itself.

Other than that, I didn't have much of a problem. I always thought it was a treat when we saw characters that were rarely shown (due to unpopularity I guess). Also it was kinda annoying when we had to sit through Dot's "I'm so cute" vain moments, but as long as Yakko or Wakko was in the scenes with her, I could take it since those two were my favorites. I could live through Chicken Boo but it was always pointless.

To their defense, I loved Rita and Runt because they would give us a moment to have some sort of sanity, and because it focused on homeless pets. With them, we had a chance to travel to places and learn facts like they used to drown cats in Salem, sacrifice cats in Egypt, make violins of cat guts and make food out of dogs. Being an animal-lover as a kid, I found that interesting. I mostly liked Rita and the beautiful scenes they set up for her songs, she was a cool cat. I didn't like "rainman" Runt so much, but now that I've seen Rainman when I'm older, I see what they were trying to do but the character wasn't very dynamic as a cartoon.

The only ones I really like are the Warners, Slappy and Skippy, Good Idea Bad Idea, Mime Time, and that Randy Beaman character. Pinky and the Brain are okay, and I don't really like the rest, especially not Mindy and Buttons. Those cartoons are just plain annoying.

reply

I agree. I LOVED Good Idea Bad Idea and that kid that always talked about Randy Beaman! The Mindy and Buttons episodes frustrated me...
