Halle Berry acted well, ***BUT***
her accent was obviously fake/not done well at all. It took away from the movie.
Still it was good. Grade: B.

Oh my gosh! I thought I was the only one who felt that too! The acting was great, but her voice (accent) was REALLY irritating!
shareI agree - I've actually never heard Halle do black dialect well. It always sounds over the top and forced. It could be because she mostly grew up with her white mom and didn't have an opportunity to really internalize the sound of black vernacular.
shareI just watched parts of this, and I had the same reaction. However, Berry did not have to grow up around blacks to properly interpret the intonations and nuances of the vernacular of black Americans. Good actors don accents all the time. Look how many British actors convincingly. For example, look how well Idris Elba and Chiwetel Ejifor emulate American black accents.

Agreed. Funny enough, Halle used the same really fake accent in Jungle Fever and Losing Isaiah too. I'm glad she's since dropped it.
Don't eva let nobody tell you you ain't strong enough
