All the remakes out there...

Of 80/90s movies and spin-off/sequels of TV shows (see Girl Meets World)
I'd be terrified to see a spin-off of this show. Thoughts?

I never saw a remake like that work, but maybe it would be fun to see someone take a shot at this, the worse that would happen is it fails like all the others, that is no way tarnishes the original shows in my opinion. It would have to be set in the early 90's again though, it would be interesting to see what parallels could be done with that looking back 20 years at those times now, doing that correctly could make an interesting show.

Huh to be honest I'm not sure that Pete&Pete would ever be remade like Boy meets world. Pete&Pete was always more of a (great) cult show that never had the kind of audience Boy Meets World did. I think maybe if they had a new cast of characters, same universe as the original show it might work. I would prefer it either set in the present or in the past before the show though, just my opinion.

There's an independent comedy series on YouTube called Connor & AJ that reminds me of Pete & Pete. It has the '90s Nick style and brings back some nostalgic memories. It's actually pretty good from what I have seen and would be cool if it became a full series.

Here is the opening credits sequence:

Here is a shorter episode set on Valentine's Day:

You could do a show inspired by Pete and Pete. For example, you could have a similarly dead-pan surreal world-view, edgy-hip cameos, etc.

A sequel, or even a spin-off, with the same characters would be an invitation to disaster, I think. The show was too specific. If you didn't totally nail it exactly (and maybe even if you did) fans would crucify you.

I'm torn on whether you could get away with incorporating some elements of the show's world (like, say, "Krebstar" products) and get away with it.
