New Series

With growing popularity of westerns in Hollywood again 310 to yuma appolosa etc I think a Movie version or even the series reinveted would do great. Personally I'd like to see bruce campbell involved but I think it would sell either way anyone else

Hopefully a mover and shaker will see this and get an idea

I agree, I would love to see a movie version. They would need to get someone with Bruce Campbell's unique sense of humor. It really was what made the series so great to watch.

reply

Yah I always thought, especially in this age of direct to video and independant movies, they could do some made for TV movies, or even direct to video movies and really do them justice. However, as much as I'd love to see that, I don't think I'd be able to watch it without Bruce Campbell in it. Also, I'd be so bummed Julius Carey wouldn't be in it.

reply

Bruce should return in a special movie of Brisco. Make it the movie Indy 4 was supposed to be ;D

reply

I'm watching Brisco on DVD now. Amazon had it available on mothers day for about
1/3 price. I agree that it is HIGH TIME for a Brisco movie. As to not having Lord Bowler (Rest in Peace, Julius), they could ALWAYS have a new actor come in as Bowlers son. And they could either purposefully get someone MUCH taller to play "Little Lord Bowler", or get someone as short and round as Carry was TALL AND SLIM!!!! And the voice... imagine someone with an even deeper and more resonant voice than his!!! Or even a softer voice!!! The comedic effect would be ASTOUNDING!!! I think just about any combination would work. Whatever they come up with. Don't think it will ever happen though. Damn. Later, all.

reply

Well as often as they recycle ideas in hollywood, you never know. This would be great if it were recast and made again.

I would love to see them pick up roughly on the same timeframe as the real world. About 17 years later, Briscoe & Dixie are settled in a town with him as sherrif & her running the best saloon in town. Briscoe County III and his best friend (Lord Bowler's son) are ready to embark on their own adventures. Also a County daughter who is a younger version of Dixie who is always trying to get Bowler Jr's attention but he sees her as a little sister, to her frustration.

I really don't see anyone but Bruce Campbell as Brisco. Without him it just wouldn't work--for us fans, Bruce IS Brisco County, Jr. It's a shame we don't have Julius too, but the idea of having Bowler's son might work (he did have that girlfriend in one episode who invented the hamburger but called it something else)...Socrates, of course would have to be there as well as Dixie--wife or perhaps more interestingly ex-wife. As far as I know Billy Drago is still alive, so perhaps the ORB could somehow bring John Bly back as well? Billy was a consumate villain, and as we all know, a hero is defined by the villains he opposes. Sherlock had his Moriarty, Batman his Joker, Superman his Lex Luthor...and Brisco had John Bly. Maybe Lee Ermy could even make another appearance as the ghost of Brisco Sr.? Even if it never happens, it's fun to think about. It might be interesting to have Sam Raimie direct it, given his history working with Bruce. Hey, a number of old TV shows that weren't necessarily as good have been made into movies in the last few years with mixed results, so why not? Should somebody try to do it as a series again, though, like BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (which turned out much better than the original, btw) let's hope it doesn't get stuck on Friday or Saturday night, which in recent years have become the "slums" of broadcast TV. We can but hope...

How about "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr and Lord Bowler Jr"?

reply

This is going to be so far out there as far as casting is concerned, but Portland Trail Blazers forward Gerald Wallace would fit the Lord Bowler role (provided he could act). The guy is 6'7, has a Barry White voice and already has braids.

Like I said, it's really far out there, but hey, as long as we're talking about it, it's pretty cool to throw it out there.

How about you just have better ideas next time? Then you won't have to waste your time and energy trying to argue with people who call out the bad ones.

Sorry kiddo, but you're gonna have to read your own posts to see who starts arguments. See, it's not a waste of time to laugh at retards such as yourself. It's an internet message board -- nothing to be taken as seriously as you obviously do!

ROFLMAO @ your trolling!

Gerald Wallace!!! You actually said that! Come on man, get out of here with that crap!

reply

So what if I said it. The fact you're coming back years later proves you need to take the internet much less seriously.

Cut your own crap, dude. lmao!

The timing is irrelevant. If I had called out your stupid idea the minute you said it, or if I called it out three centuries from now, it would still be your stupid idea. At least have the dignity to own up to it and apologize.

Apologize for what? A goofball comment? I demand your apology for taking the internet so damn seriously ROFLMAO!

They could always do a Next Generation thing. Maybe Bowler is killed and his son and Brisco (or Brisco's son) have to avenge him? Maybe Brisco finally married Dixie and settled down as a sheriff of a town or something.

I don't want to see it reinvented at all, a sequel is the only thing I could imagine. I mean it just wouldn't be the same show without the original cast.
