Maybe it's because I'm an American and I'm just use to seeing Am shows doing 41episodes in an average of a two year span. Is that normal in England with shows going 4 episodes per year?
shareMost UK shows have 6-12 episodes per series. Ab Fab didn't have a series every year, the later series are years apart.

There is actually 39 episodes, not 41.

If you have seen the special "Absolutely Fabulous: A Life", that doesn't count as an actual episode. It was release on video in 1997/98 and features about 20 minutes of new footage with Eddy in her mother's charity shop while she is doing a documentary about her life, the rest of it is made up of clips from the first three seasons and runs about 80 mins. You should check this out if you haven't seen it, it's really good. There are also short episodes which were made for the Comic Relief charity but they don't count as actual episodes either.
you don't watch old American tv... Gilligan's Island among other shows routinely had 32 episode seasons.

and when you think about it now... most of the new shows [Archer, American Horror Story, most of the not-so-much reality shows] have 13 or so episodes in a season. that is only twice as much your average british show.

I noticed that seasons are harder to keep up with when there are too many episodes. British TV shows don't do enough. American half-hour show such as sitcoms are good for having around 22 episodes per season. But one-hour shows are good between 10-22 episodes. 32 is too many.
