The Ending!

This movie could of been one of the great Hong Kong movies. And it is good Brigitte Lin, Maggie Cheung, Donnie Yen and Tony Leung Ka Fai Big Tony. All put in good performances. Also Elvis Tsui put on a good comedy relief role. But like most Tsui Hark movies there's a lot going on. But I still stayed interested through out the movie. Then came the ending. I will not spoil it. But what the heck was that all about. That last 5 mins is so gore. Even a die hard Kung fu movie junkie is left in shock.

without adding any spoilers, i thought the ending was ridiculous and took a bit away from the film.

still a good film, but with a less silly ending it would have been better.

The ending is awesome. I loved it! Definately didn't see that coming, what the hell were they on? Definatley one of the craziest finales I've ever seen.

Who says violence is not the answer?

Greatest ending in movie history. I was rolling so hard. That's what made those movies so great back then. They didn't care about being realistic or sohphisticated. They threw the craziest things they could come up with at you whenever they could.

Awesome ending. It tells you never judge a book by it's cover.

The ending was totally weird which was why I decided to watch it again. The first time I saw it was on VHS in the early '90s when my mom brought it home and this was just one of those movies that stuck in my mind for ages. Just watched it again for the first time in years, literally over a decade since I've seen it and it's still crazy. It was kind of like they were thinking, "Now let's just do this because in a world with people who could do such and such, it's a possibility that this could happen this way and it would end like this." It's like how you see hundreds of films that are cliche and all end the same way and you start to expect films to end that way and even expect things in real life to be similar. Sometimes in real life, things don't happen the way they do in films. This time, things didn't happen in this film the way that they usually happen in films. It was pretty strange. I don't even know what to say about it or whether I liked the way it ended or not. I guess I kind of did because it made me think about it a lot. LOL. That's all I have to say. No spoilers here. Watch it for yourself.

Haha, I finally got to see this film and yeah the ending is just... lol, kind of ruins it with a 10 on the ridiculous scale.

I know! Everyone got stabbed, and just kept on fighting with blood pouring out of them. But as soon as the barbarian cook came and cut him up, i knew it was a joke

black and white movies were better

The ending sucks because it didn't do the Tony Leung - Brigitte Lin romance justice (which up until then had been one of the best parts of the film).

Most people here didn't get the point of the ending. For us who grow up reading all sorts of martial arts novels, it makes GREAT sense! I just re-watched it on screen today. It has been 17 years since when I first watched it in middle school. And it still makes me thrill.
