This is the Broderick version

Totally biased movie. Meredith Baxter didn't even bother to try to contact Betty. She relied on the Broderick family "facts" and the Brodericks were the only consultants for the film. Read "Until the 12th of never" by Bella Stumbo for the unbiased, best book on the crime.

I wouldn't want to talk to that woman, she is out of her mind and has been from the moment she met Dan Broderick.

reply

Yeah I just watched this movie on lifetime she seemed really nice at first then she just went berserk when she got divorced she should have been thankful that the ex hubby bought her a nice home and gave her visitation to the kids.

reply

Amen! Did she get any happiness from murdering her ex and his wife? No she lost 32 years of her life and I bet most of her children don't talk to her.

"she just went berserk when she got divorced she should have been thankful that the ex hubby bought her a nice home and gave her visitation to the kids."

jsn,
i couldn't agree more, she didn't deserve anything after what she put dan and the children through. she also got $16,000 a month and the children didn't live with her.

i believe dan knew how narcissistic she was years before he left her and he left just for that reason.

reply

True. People who get their knowledge of the case from the film are clueless. Dan and Linda tormented Betty KNOWING that she was unstable, and they kept asking for what they eventually got.Betty was simply driven off the brink by them. They didn't deserve to die, but they wereboth lowlifes who were cruel to Betty. And this is a story told by Dan's family. I don't even think the Kolkenas had much input. I do know that the Brodericks tried to screw Linda's family out of her next of kin getting anything. Linda's family never tried to take advantages of their daughter's murder.
The Stumbo book is excellent and it's unbiased.

"Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?"

But for life insurance, if they were the benefactor, why would Linda's family get anything? To me, it seems like it should have all gone to the kids. But I could be wrong.

I am hoping that my public library has the book. As soon as I read the update of her first trial ending in a hung jury, I knew that the story had to have been told from his family, and not unbiased.

If you're not responding to me, "reply" to the post you're responding to. kthanks.

Linda harassed Betty sending her ad's for weight loss programs ad's for wrinkle remover plus a few weeks before Dan and Linda got married she slept with her ex boyfriend

reply

Yep. While I'm not saying that they deserved to die, the movie doesn't show all of what happened.

reply

it's very sad that the movie is one sided i don't agree with what she did but being tormented by Dan and Linda I'm sure pushed her over the edge maybe husbands will think twice before they cheat

Anniston, I think the kids were too young too get the money themselves, and Dan had disinherited one of the kids. So it was a question of which adult from which family would get to control the money, supposedly for the benefit of the kids.

I'm reading the Bella Stumbo book now. My library had it. There really were no sympathetic victims here. Dan was a control freak who knew how to push her buttons. If Betty had just moved on with her life, I'm sure Dan would have divorced Linda by the time Linda hit her late 30s or 40's and Betty would have had her revenge.

reply

but by that time he would have been 2 old to get a younger woman, wouldnt he be stuck with linda

reply

No not if he had enough money.

I am not revealing my name to protect the innocent.

According to the book Until the Twelth of Never, Meredith had tea with Kerry Wells the prosecutor.

reply

Ok I read the Bella book, I hear people saw Linda sent the fat adds ect, But it doesn't say for sure Linda was the one who sent them and its only mentioned twice that I could see and not at the trial.
Not saying Linda and Dan were innocent (THE AFFAIR was def wrong) but I don't see From the Book that they ever did anything to justify what Betty did to them, Betty was Crazy and took bitterness to a Whole new level, I know betty has her supporters but Nothing her husband did justifies or excuses her behavior.

Betty clearly lost her mind in a cloud of bitterness and jealousy.
