I'm not sure if this the right movie or not...
Is there a scene with him in an apartment or something with no shirt on doing heroin? and ash trays full of cigarette butts? Thats all I remember about it and I'm trying to find what movie it was...

shareGreat film, but I think Kyle was bad! His chewing and 'cool-dude' stuff just wasn't right. In all this mess all of the characters were, his hair was just too clean. His acting was bad! I usually like him as an actor, but this wasn't convincing at all!

I strongly disagree. I think Kyle's acting was great in this and his character was also very believable.
Of course he's a "cool dude", he's dealing a variety of A-class drugs and getting away with it. Generally these people in real life do have a lot of swagger and confidence about them.
Yes his hair was better than the other homeless people in the movie - probably because he wasn't homeless himself and obviously his appearance was important to him: his chest was shaved/waxed, he worked out, etc..
I thought he was shooting up speed, and it was in his toe. Everything else about your recollection is accurate, though.
