If there's a Dumb and Dumber sequel 20 years later, where's the WW sequel

If there's a new Dumb and Dumber sequel 20 years later, that Warner Bros very foolishly passed on and let Universal make, where's the WW3 sequel, as Mike Myers could do with the work.

I honestly dont have much faith in the Dumb and Dumber sequel, and the first one is literally my favorite movie of all time. I personally don't think a WW sequel would do well, with the actors in their late fifties, and 90's head-bangers a thing of the past. We were lucky enough to have them reunite in 2008 seeing as Dana and Mike weren't even on speaking terms for like 10 years. There are enough embarrassingly disappointing sequels of movies attempting to make a comeback.

Read the Dumb and Dumber 2 board and you can see it's tested extremely well.

Well, I will say it didn't suck, but it can't touch the masterpiece.

I think of Wayne as Garth as being about 25, so they were young adults still in their carefree party stage of life, but they seem more "70s/80s guys" to me. Keep in mind some of the bands they liked were a bit older even for then. Plus this was probably written and filmed in 1990 or 1991 for an early 92 release, so we were still very early into the nineties at this point and not quite in the grunge alternative slackers era, or only in the very early stages.

And if they could pull it off in 2008 for that skit, there's no reason they couldn't do it for a whole movie. Nobody's saying they'd be exactly the same age. If they were 45 or 50 year old dudes in 2015 I think that could totally work - i.e. a bit more mature and older, but still headbangers and partiers at heart.

Why weren't they speaking???

Dana Carvey claims that Mike Myers stole some of his skit characters for movies including Austin Powers if I remember right.

Dumb and Dumber is about dumb people. Wayne's World is about young people.

I too would love a sequel!

For me, it's not so much about being the funniest movie ever made, as much as it is about being a fun return to the past!

As others have said, if Dana and Mike could pull this off in 2008', then they sure as hell could pull it off now.

My original idea had the two of them working boring office jobs, with short hair styles, to which they break away from it for the rest of the movie. I've moved on from that idea, partially due to them having the shorter hair, which could look weird for their characters. Instead, why not just have them continue to work in the music industry, keeping their usual look, and with them engaging in more humorous activity and hi-jinks that we know them for.

The budget wouldn't need to be big, so that would help ensure that the movie would be a success at the box office, and as long as the script is good, then I don't see how this wouldn't work.

Make it so!

You know somebody on this board once posted a screenplay they wrote, or part of one, of their idea for a sequel, and I actually thought it was really good, and funny! It started with Wayne, working at Stan Mikita's married to Cassandra, while Garth married Betty-Jo, and was a big time music producer, and they were going to find each other.

They should pitch it to someone, and see if they can get it made, before it's too late!

Sounds good to me, just don't call it 'WW3'. Makes it sound like the end of the world(World War 3). lol

It's a shame Mike Myers didn't do Wayne's World 3 back in the 90s/2000s. He could had concluded it as a trilogy. If Mike Myers agreed to do a long awaited 3rd film and if Dana Carvey agreed to return as Garth, where would they take it?

I'm also interested in seeing Wayne & Garth reunited in their later years.

"Wayne's World 2" came out a year later, and it wasn't on the same level as the original.

True, I always wondered what was missing when watching it as a young lad, and I realize a lot of people from the original were missing with the biggest letdown being the absence of Russell imo.

I wouldn't have much faith in a sequel at this point just based off of Mike Meyers alone.

I mean, look at Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002); it wound up being the worst of the three in my opinion, and that came out shortly after the second installment.

But, anything is possible. They're making a Gremlins 3 sequel, and the last one was from 1990.
