I feel used...

This was a perfectly ridiculous movie: absolutely disgusting in some parts, stupid and generally unpleasant in others. The story makes no sense (OK... so he's a professor, what kind of experiment is this exactly? What is it proving? Why was he fired from his post in the first place? Why does he have a record for murder? I don't get it!!!) And while there were some parts that were actually kind of funny (Dodie is hysterical) all in all, the comic moments jangled rather than jibed with the suspense/horror aspects.

And yet... I couldn’t stop watching it! Argh! Oh my poor head! I’ll never get that brain space back...

I had the same experience. It was a bad movie that I couldn't stop watching; I stil don't know whether or I loved it or I hated it.

I gave it a 5/10. :)

None of that really matters when you're watching it and all of thoose questions are based on a revelation that comes during the last fifteen minutes.
That's like asking why "The Simpsons" are yellow, have three fingers and look like cartoons. The Vagrant is meant to be more of a comedy then a suspense/thriller.
Maybe it's a bad comedy but it's still funny if you don't take it too seriously.
You could perhaps compare it to "The 'burbs".

do you remember the breathing used as the background music "huhhahuh huhhahuh". never leaves my mind. if you want to know where to get it, this 40 year old alcoholic lady i know has it, but you gotta go over there and get it yourself.... she's a little freaky.

I liked it. Sometimes very scary. Sometimes very funny.

Very well put about the film. I totally agree with you there even though I did not find it scary to watch though.

LOL Hilarious! I love your statement that you made about this lady as a neighbor who is a drunk.

Fair enough: I can appreciate the movie as black comedy, certainly (as I pointed out, some parts were very amusing and well-done). I'm usually pretty indulgent of nonsensical plots, but for whatever reason, I wasn't on board with this one.

If you were to give it another look you would notice how the cops don't really do anything when told about how the vagrant might be dangerous until they hear how he might have been urinating outside in the bushes, then they pull out their guns and arrest him.

I remember seeing this on tc late at night maybe 10 years ago or more and watching it because I had a crush on Bill Paxton. All I remember is a dodgy handjob...Maybe I was watching the wrong film.

You are giving me a stomach-ache in my brain!

COOL That you caught this late at night on TV back in the day. I am sure glad that THIS TV shows films like this on TV because not too many TV stations will show films like this on anymore. It all depends on where you live though and if the local TV stations will show films like this late at night. I loved it and thought it was a great film to watch though.

I thought it was hilarious to watch the cops react when they heard the vagrant was urinating outside on the bushes though with their guns drawn. Then the vagrant is out of jail once again and causing the main character to get all rawled up.

That is a shame that you were not on board with this film here. I thought it was a great film to watch and I loved it too! I am looking forward to getting my hands on a copy of it whether on VHS or DVD.

So very well said about the film! You cannot really take it seriously and by the end of the film you figure out what it was about the book the vagrant would leave in his victims homes. What he did was he twisted their perfect lives and had them convicted for innocent crimes like he did with Bill Paxtons character in the film. He does not get convicted and is freed. Then when Paxtons character thinks that he has gotten away from his past the vagrant comes right back into his life to finish him off which does not happen though. It is so bad yet awww so good to watch for a movie.

I loved it and thought it was a great film to watch to be honest with you. It is one of those movies that you do not care for it yet you have to love it though.

Yes it was a perfectly rediculous film to watch all right! Yes some parts were disgusting all right and that is what I loved about it. This is the kind of films that I love to watch that does not make any sense at all yet it is so good to watch on a weekend afternoon with nothing to do and nothing else is on TV. This reminds me of back in the day when cable TV was like this especially USA Network. I would catch films like this back in the day and watch them. They had a show on the weekends on Friday and Saturday nights that ran late that would show films like this and the show was called USA UP ALL NIGHT! Yes you are correct that the guy was a doctor though performing experiments on peoples lives who were perfect and he just sort of tweaked their lives a bit. It was something that I loved about the film. It had a great concept where a brilliant man was performing this in different states as a vagrant and leaving behind at the houses his book. This man does have a record for massive murders as it tells you at the end of the film. Yes some parts of the movie was hilarious to watch. Yes the suspense and horror aspects of the film made it so much better to watch.

It kept you wanting to watch it more right? That is what I loved about this film here!
