Metallica

I remember seeing the adverts for this on TV at the time of release in 1992 and a few years later I got into Metallica and always had a notion that their song "The Unforgiven" was based on this film as the music had quite a strong western feel to it.

Of course the song actually predates the film by a year and both are about totally different subject matters. It's an easy mistake to make as after Bon Jovi did "Blaze of Glory" for the Young Guns film rock and westerns had a sort of connection around that late 80's/early 80's time period.

Anyway, I do enjoy Unforgiven. It's a really good film but personally I think it's inferior to Eastwood's earlier film 'Pale Rider'. There's a cold bleakness to Pale Rider that I've never quite seen before, but Unforgiven is still great too.
