Poor man's True Romance

I found several similarities between "Trouble Bound" (1992) and Tony Scott's 1993 Tarantino-written masterpiece "True Romance". Apart from the obvious fact that Patricia Arquette stars in both (playing a similar character that fits her like a glove), from the glossy look and stlylish cinematography to the road-movie setting and the story about this girl picking up a loner/"loser" guy and then together hitting the road on the run from the mob, and even the choice of a classic American convertible in each one (Lincoln Continental in TB, Cadillac Coupe de Ville in TR), all this made me think of Trouble Bound as a poor man's True Romance, given that I enjoyed True Romance inmensely in repeated viewings and is overall a much better movie. They even have a similar title, phonetically at least. But the difference is in the chemistry between the leads; while Arquette and Christian Slater pull off a "True Romance" that drives the movie, the lack of chemistry between Arquette and Madsen is clearly "Trouble Bound" for a still pretty decent movie.
