The Gold - What Would You Have Done?

If you haven't seen the movie then stop reading, this post might spoil some of it.

When Vince and Don find out exactly where the gold is hidden, I don't understand why they pull it out. I would have quietly talked to my partner and I would have memorized its location. The gold would have been really heavy to carry. When you have to run from someone shooting at you, the last thing you want is extra weight slowing you down. I think getting out and calling the police would have been a better idea. After the police come and investigate and leave, then you could sneak back in at night and get the gold. You would already know its location and could be in and out really fast. Also, after a police investigation James and his associates would have probably avoided the building for a while. Those are just my thoughts.

That sounds eminently sensible to me. But do you suppose you'd have thought of it at the time? Don't forget also; one of the gang members found the newspaper-cutting in the sun-visor of their station-wagon, so he'd be hunting for it too.

And what about the dosser - mightn't he have stolen a march and grabbed it whilst you were away? If I recollect, they found it in his presence.

Yeah, I think I would have thought about it at the time. If I remember correctly they were the only ones in that room, the other guy was in another room at the time. He couldn't see what they were doing. I could be wrong though it has been a few months now since I've seen the movie.

Regarding the newspaper clippings in the visor, yeah that would have been my undoing. But not knowing they had found the clippings, I would have left the gold behind and come back to get it. Gold is very heavy and I would rather run fast to save my life than be rich and dead.

I would like to hear what everyone else would have done.

I would've got the Gold, sold it, and with the money bought real actors for the movie. The four main characters were 'acted' horribly. Art evens was good though.
