The 'T' was weak... The 'Cube' Rocked!

I've always thought this film absolutely rocked!

However, as performances go, I always felt Ice-T was particularly weak in this one (compared to New Jack City and Surviving The Game) where as Ice Cube's performance was outstanding and really shone through.

Your thoughts people...

The idea, being that King James, used to be like Savon, but wised up and "slowed his roll". He pretty much focused on keeping the business going and not having flare ups within his crew. It was the classic protagonist(Savon, being the younger version of James, wanting control)
King was streetwise enough to know the eventual outcome and needed to find out who was setting them up..

Ice T got better as an actor over time, but this was early in his acting career and his performance was very bad. Ice Cube did a much better job and pulled off the character perfectly.

I do agree even though I'm 34 just saw this for the first time and I can apreciate all the actors in this movie I mean if I saw this when it came out I would of said thats another dumb gang movie but since I didn't and new more then half the actors in this movie.

All in all it was a good movie

reply

you guys are idiots, Ice-T played his role perfectly.

I totally agree with atomic dj cruz.
Ice-t played the character of the BOSS, not the easy-trigger Ice-Cube.
See the scene when Raymond arrives with the new guns and stuff and they are all excited with the rifles but not King James. Not him, his pissed, his face still concentrated and he is thinking about the false-officer plan, because he is the smartest man in there.
What did you expected? Did you see the big Boss in Reservoir Dogs fooling around with his dogs around the table? No because he is the boss, bosses just don't fool around. Just the employee. And that's one of the basic codes of crime stories. Everyone should know that.

I just get a kick out of hearing Cube say the phrase "...all day!" repeadadly...

"Your s*** ain't worked all day!"

"You ain't done s*** all day!"

lol.

reply

Yup. Just because Cube's character was flashier and he could stand back and criticize the boss as they weren't trying his shixt. T played it down perfectly. His character was also hampered by the fact that his brother was being held hostage which had nothing to do with the business they wanted to conduct and nobody cared about that except T. That was the character's weakness, not a weakness in the way Ice acted it. He showed the character's weakness perfectly. Great performances all the way around.

I thought Ice T did a fine job as King James. He played off of Ice Cube extremely well.

I watched Trespass a few days ago and I really enjoyed it.

Ice cube was slightly nauseating as a tough attitudey hoodlum always trying to be a wannabe ‘Mr.t’

Ice t as king kames was very good.

Ice T was GREAT in this

Nothing wrong with his acting at all. Think most people are just blinded because his character was as BADASS!!!!! as Savon. I found his character to be likeable and more grounded than some of the people around him. I find myself actually hoping he'd live. He seemed like the only reasonable one of the group.

Scarface and the Whie Cubanos would mess up these colored fellas real good.

LOL! The characters I really wanted to see make it out were Vince & King James, I was hoping that they would make it because they were the only level headed characters in the film. T & Cube were badass in here no doubt though!

this is like comparing tony montana to carlito brigante.

Ice-T is pretty much tie with Sadler for me for best performance in the movie, where as Cube is one of the weaker ones

The plan is you drink a nice tall glass of shut the *beep* up.

Agree with this

It's hard not to. Ice Cube wanted Power, Ice T was juggling family, power struggles, and an unknown wrench in the gears.
