Rooting for the 'Bad Guys'

Was anyone else rooting for the "bad guys" in this movie? Maybe it's b/c I'm in the Army, went to military school, and come from a military family, but I was on the General's side (except for killing Patrick, Leslie, etc.)- those "War Toys" would have been excellent drones, just like the current Predator.

The general made a really good point during that x-ray scene. Spending billions on a stealth fighter and only so much on cancer research. His idea was to make smaller more efficient weapons that would be cheaper as a result. Combing the smallness of toys with weapons, and the remote control ability. Really, it's becoming science-fact today, no longer science fiction.
Thing is, the military doesn't use toy technology. The military is usually the pioneer and toys, and many consumer technology products end up using what the military already did.

No. I was no rooting for the bad guys. The last thing our country needs is a cheaper way to go to war. The cheaper war becomes the more likely we are to go to war.

I started rooting for the bad guys when the good guys sent an army of old wind up toys to fight the militaristic toys. I officially felt the movie had successfully and finally found a direct route up its own ass.

that was singly the worst part of the movie there since it just didn't make any sense at all. Most of the toys asides for a few would of been easy to get past anyhow. I think the worst toys were the ones with the rockets and maybe the helicopters. Which for the latter you only need a fly swatter or something else to smack it with, hell a shirt or coat would of worked.

Does nobody understand that that course of action was intended to be a distraction since the war toys attacked based on motion sensors?

reply

did you also agree with having children control them without knowing they are killing real people? That is the problem I have with his plan. Other than that I think it is a great plan.

reply

No, and im very respectful of the armed forces, have had friends and relatives serve and fight in wars, but i was very much on the side of the Toys in this case, The General was wonderfully played by Michael Gambon but Zevo was an absolute oaf, how the hell can anyone take him seriously, also his son played by LL Cool J did a brilliant job, this is such an underated film.
