Cinema Epoch Version?

Few months ago, the coming new release by "Cinema Epoch" was quoted to be 135 minutes full uncut version on lots of sites. But now I can't find this information anymore, and it is only 112 minutes long on amazon. Any one knows what is going on?

I think Cinema Epoch (Koch Company) pulled a hype-up publicity stunt by advertising it as the uncut 135 minutes version (a few months ago). They knew that this DVD has been out of print for years and cult fans for this film has been clamoring for this release. First release here in the U.S. was by Image and it was 112 minutes. Then First Run Features released it again early during the 2001; it was also 112 minutes and Pan and Scan (not Widescreen). At least Epoch is releasing it in Widescreen. Hopefully Amazon did a typo error on it's running time of 112 minutes. I'll recheck Cinema Epoch's website if they're still fronting this DVD as the 135 minutes version. PS.: Amazon's specs on this DVD's rating is "Unrated". But that could mean a lot of things eg. a lot of foreign films released on DVD doesn't get rated by the MPAA and they're still the editted or cut version of the original films. Let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope Cinema Epoch delivers on their word.

The Cinema Epoch version is NOT the uncut, 135 minute version of the film. It is the US theatrical cut.

And, while we are on the subject, the CE version (which I got in the post yesterday) is, to my eyes, a rather poor transfer. The image quality is very soft and it is far, far too dark.

In fact, other than the anamorphic enhancement, it looks almost identical to the VHS dub that I made from cable television about 10 years ago.

Adding insult to injury, there appear to be new subtitles (at least different ones to those on my dubbed copy) that have more than a handful of typographical errors and, worse, are occasionally mis-timed, occuring prior to a character's speaking.

Though film itself is definitly not for everyone, in my opinion, the Cinema Epoch DVD is not for anyone.

So sorry to hear that. The "CE release DVD is 135 minutes long" must be some dirty tricks "someone" played to stimulate the DVD sale. It reminded me the Havoc(2005) DVD, all kinds of rumours before its DVD release.

Yeah it's kind of disappointing that the Cinema Epoch release worked out this way. It isn't just that it was the shorter version for me though. It's that there were a couple points - during the "turtle face" sequence and at the end - where I think cuts occurred and and those cuts were done very badly. What made them bad is that they left me wondering how characters moved from one place or situation to another. These changes hurt what was otherwise a good film.

"Well, it's no harder to be nice than it is to be creepy. And it's more fun."

I have to agree with jamblo. The image is Wide Screen and is of what looks like VHS quality. Some of the subs are dubious. As they sometimes are misspellings rather than bad translations. And the picture seemed too dark. I got the Cinema Epoch DVD (2008) from Netflix. The backwards counter on my Sony DVD player states that the film is 1:52:14 (1hr,52min,14sec) If there is a Uncut Vers.,what was left out? Liquor & Whores,Bitches!

I Kill Kids!

P.S. I just ran the film counting up,and from the start of the film to the start of the credits,is 1:47:50 (1hr,47min,50sec). Plus Ai does some little dance after the credits rolls. Film length to after Ai's dance is 1:52:14

Glen Livet & Crack Whores,Bitches!
