What was the pill?

What was that pill that Ai took? I have a feeling it was acid, but beside Her strange behavior She didnt seem to hallucinate.

I rented this film thinking it was just some B-movie to get off on. But I was blown away by how powerfull and tragic the film was.

i suppose the pill is XTC.
in the same-called novel "extasy", murakami wrote the line already read in "tokyo decadence". "take this pill. it will give you superpowers." miyashita, the "hero" in extasy then takes the pill and ends pretty much like ai......

ah, by the way.
t-decadence: great movie!

Not to be confused with Haruki Murakami, RYU Murakami is the author to TOPAZ (a.k.a. Tokyo Decadence). Trademarks to his work include heavy use of Rock 'n Roll references, detailed reference and elaboration on food - especially gourmet, his earlier years as an art student (which he based on in the book ALMOST TRANSPARENT BLUE - which launched his career), drug use, Yakuza, and S&M.

suggest reading include: 69, Coin-Locker Babies, Ibiza, and his debut ALMOST TRANSPARENT BLUE.

I'm watching it right now actually. Having quite a lot of personal experience with different drugs in my younger days, I can say it's definitely NOT ecstasy - that tends to have the effect of making you a little "faster" (it's an amphetamine), as well as being an emotional enhancer (if you're happy, you'll get happier, and if you're depressed, you'll get worse). (it also definitely was not acid as the first poster suggested as a possibility - other than laughing at random things, most people can't even tell when you're on acid, even though the world TO YOU seems completely messed up).
I'd say it looked more like someone on some kind of cocktail pill (quite common in Japan in the era this film was made). Cocktails are often a mix of uppers and downers, which gives the "drunk-like" stumbling of a downer, with the "ooh, look at the shiny things!" of an upper. Specifically, my guess from the behaviour would be some kind of minor tranquiliser (such as a small amount of GHB) mixed with a either a medium amount of a potent upper (such as Ecstasy) or large amount of a mild upper (such as Ephedrine).

Right - that's enough about drugs... suffice to say, I'm loving the movie!

The pill was Klonipin. It's an awful drug that makes you feel like you are under water. But at the same time it does take away your inhibitions. I was slipped this pill once, and i was walking EXACTLY like the girl in this movie. When I saw that scene i said "Oh my god i know what THAT is..." Your arms and legs feel like lead and you stumble around and act drunk.
