Sandy Shaw, Ching Siu Tung, and Johnny To borrow a page from James Cameron's 'The Terminator' when Old Monster(Yen Shi Kwan) walks out of a fire as a roasted, walking corpse! Then, as a Carlo Rimbaldi esque mechanical puppet, he takes control of the mind and body of Saam Ching(Michelle Yeoh)!

The footage of the Number 9 Demon Kids, and their painful demise, is deleted from the Miramax version; probably to avoid an NC 17 rating.

If 'The Heroic Trio' were made in 2003, it may have been driven by bad CGI, tamer violence, and pretty pop stars who can't act well. The late Anita Mui, a pop star/actress, is an exception, of course. When I read a headline in 2003 that she passed away, I actually interjected, "NO!" I've been a fan of hers since 'Rumble in the Bronx'. I love that scene where a schoolgirl and her kitten accidentally fall from a balcony and Ah Tung/Wonder Woman/Neui Fei Hap comes to the rescue in the nick of time. It brings a smile to my face everytime I see it.
