New American Dub Version?

I have the DVD with English, Cantonese, and Mandrain but now I am watching it on Spike TV and this is a new dub. When did this happen? It's a hell of a lot better than the English on DVD.

"Mercy" was dubbed by Wendee Lee and its not listed under her IMDB entry, so perhaps it is a recent dub. Perhaps it was done because of the original character names, which could be considered copyright infringement given use of the names Invisible Woman and Wonder Woman. I saw a subbed version a number of years ago and they used those names.

If that's the case, I must say that I'm rather disappointed. Part of the movie's charm is the horridly bad character names. But hey, I don't think there's another character named Thief Catcher, so at least that name would be saved in such a dispute. :)

The Miramax English dub works for viewers who could care less about the film's original integrity. I, personally, prefer the HK version with Anita Mui's pop songs, the excessive violence, the montage of footage over the end credits, the Cantonese soundtrack, etc.

At least this one actually managed to get a uncut dvd release in the US. (unlike 'Project A' and 'Police Sorty 3: Supercop') So we actually have the option of seeing this film the way it was meant to be seen.

Thanks, Tai-Shing. Your subtitles may not be the best, but I'd support you over Marim-axe any day.
